Really? So it is alright to use the UFC spotlights to promote a certain brand of alcoholic beverage, brand of clothes, F*cking Metro PCS or even to hype a fight using personal attacks or repeatedly thowing obscene gestures at opponents live, but personal faith in God should never be disclosed? Interesting POV.
Bud Light, Harley Davidson, and Metro PCS are apolitical business establishments that contribute to the revenue of the UFC and Zuffa. I see nothing wrong with having them being promoted as sponsors. If you do, please share your thoughts as to why.
And if you know anything about me or if you've read my posts, you'll know that I'm a vehement opponent of trash talk and obscene gestures being displayed during fights. I have never condoned such behavior, ever.
As I stated earlier, I have absolutely no problem with Henderson believing in any sort of religious dogma or subscribing to a particular religion. I have a problem with him using the pulpit of the UFC to promote such beliefs. Religion is an extremely personal and confrontational subject. By endorsing a particular religion or allowing it's fighters to use their elevated platform as a means to promote their religion, the UFC is actually risking quite a bit, especially in regards to securing revenue from apolitical and secular businesses that provide the UFC with a lot of Benjamin's.
I'm not religious at all and it bothers the hell out of me. But it's also bad for business.
