I was incredibly shocked to see the horrible KO of Overeem last night... especially at the hands of Bigfoot. Don't get me wrong big foot is big powerful striker and anyone can get KO'ed (well except maybe Anderson Silva because hes Neo and can cheat and slow down time)... but for someone of his caliber (probably not even top 5 HW in UFC) to KO reem, it makes it hard for me to imagine Reem having much success in the division overall.

I understand many of you will argue he wasn't taking Bigfoot seriously and I do agree with that. But if you watch the fight you will see that he is actually trying to evade punches and in the third round was doing it quite a bit but simply just got outclassed when Bigfoot just rocked him with an initial punch while standing and then just destroyed him from there once he was initially dazed and covering up.

Could reem stick around and beat lower tier HW's, sure he could. But it seems to me that he will never be remotely close to the UFC HW championship which is what his entire motive was for coming to the UFC (yes you may say all fighters want to be champion, but lets be honest, many fighters are ok with the status quo and just competing, winning and grabbing a cheque from Dana).

I feel that hes been through so many fights now, his chin is getting weaker and weaker (like wanderlei silva where his repetitive trauma from fighting so many times has effected him to the point where you can just brush his chin and he practically has a cataplectic drop attack) and his striking hasn't really looked that impressive for years.

Do you think it might be a good time for him to just retire and not let his legacy be tarnished any further?

I think the positive drug test already took care of that, as for should he retire? He was beating Bigfoot until Bigfoot made him pay for keeping his hands down, if Overeem doesn't fight like a cocky piece of shit he wins that fight, so retire? No, keep his hands up when he's fighting massive Heavyweights? He might wanna consider that.

A man who is about 300 pounds of muscle caught him almost completely flush with a headkick and he didn't go down. His jaw isn't glass he took a bunch of super powerful strikes before the lights finally went out. Bigfoot is a good heavyweight and Overeem made him look like shit in the first two rounds with both striking and grappling he can hang with the top of the division and they should match him up against JDS next since that is the fight everyone wants to see anyways at heavyweight.

The whole glass chin comments are crazy, big foot is a huge huge man and landed bombs before Overeem crumbled. Overeem was being a smart ass and paid for it. 2 wins and his name will be back up there.

If the fight had been two rounds, he would have won, he decisively controlled and won the first and most of the second. He was acting like a cocky mofo for a lot of the fight and got caught in the third and didnt recover, he has never been the most iron chin, remember when chuck ko'ed him?

If he needs to retire so does fitch, rashad, yves, etc just talking about last night. Unexpected things happen in fights, its what makes the sport so exciting. If he gets finished in his next two I'll agree but right now... no.

And let's not set aside the various chemical factors involved, for all we know he'll be legit on TRT like a lot of the UFC by his next fight.

Overeem seemed to fade and he began getting clocked. The same thing happened in the Werdum fight.

Once I saw how fresh Silva was when he got up at the end of the second, I knew he would take it to Overeem in round 3.

Despite the fight, retirement for Overeem is a bit premature.
