Exactly. being taller also has the advantage of shortening the fire range of the opponent since he has to punch, kick, or knee upwards. That said, Jones standup will be more open to high kicks and knees.

I hope Gus will be able to keep the fight standing the whole first round.

In a kickboxing match I think Jones vs Shogun, Jones vs Machida and Jones vs Rashad would have been very close. Jones standup just get good when opponents want to play it safe i.e. not being taken down.

One that survive the first Jones takedown without being damaged have a good chance to kick Jones ass standing up.

Next in line for Jon Jones is Daniel Cormier, who with a victory over him will put him in line to fight Velasquez as the stadium show in December/New Years/Super bowl

We'll get an "Interim Title which will be settled likely from the winners of these three fights
Machida/Henderson
Gustaf/Mousassi
Texeira/Cavalcante

The loser of Velasquez/Jones will likely drop down to 205 to fight the winner of the interim title.

Well, Cormier isn't getting past Mir. Mousasi has never impressed, so will likely lose once he fights some real talent. Kinda just leaves the winner of Machida vs Hendo. Maybe if Gus can pick up another win he'll get a shot.

D. Cerrone | R. Souza | F. Werdum | R. MacDonald | M. McDonald | D. Maia | J. Mein | C. Condit
M. Coenen | S. Kaufman | A. Davis

Mir beats DC? Thats a hoot.

I don't know how much more Gustaf needs to do? He would have beat Thiago, Shogun, and then Mousasi. I don't think he would need another. The timing is all wrong though because of this goofy TUF show with Sonnen.

DC, Hendo, Gustaf and maybe Machida are all deserving opponents if they win their next one. I wouldn't mind DC getting 1 205 fight, but wouldn't mind if he got the shot. Just how Pettis gets an automatic at 145.

Would be nice to see DC vs. Rashad or Phil Davis first before a shot.

Explain how Mir beats Cormier, I'd love to hear it.

...Truthfully, Gus would be the most intetesting because of his skillset and reach. One thing Jones hasn't faced is a LHW that can match-up with him length wise. Like kicking, ect. I actually think Jones will make it look easy against Sonnen. Chael won't get close enough to get a takedown and if he does, Jones will reverse Sonnen & drop some insane ground n' pound. I like Gus getting to face Jones because he poses a different skillset and closely matches the reach factor...

If Josh Barnett can't take him down and sub him the smaller Mir shouldn't. Also Cormier hits hard, so he could just KO him on his feet.

Submission, I'm just not buying all the hype over Cormier, and Mir is a good upsetter.
