While you make a valid point Zuffa really have been tossing title-shots left and right recently. Sonnen getting Jones, Diaz getting GSP, Melendez getting Bendo (Though slightly different) and so on.

This fight is one of the most exciting of all of those, so I don't mind at this point. I'm just hyped for the amazing fight we get to see

this is the fight business, it's all about great match ups not silly debateable rankings, does anyone think that lamas beats aldo right now or stands even the slightest of chances or cub swanson again? no. I would like to see pettis vs aldo and winner face lamas vs korean zombie those are 2 great match ups and both make sense

This is not how it's supposed to work. Why don't people get title shots in their own weight class anymore?

By the way THIS FIGHT IS AWESOME!!! WOOOOOHOOOO!!!

it actually isn't supposed to work any way you say it, this isn't a team sport like american football where the team with the best records get the top seed and then win there way to the super bowl, it's all about matchups in fighting which is the right way to always do it, boxing is no different nor is any other combat sport. I'd like to see how many people on a scale of percentage say they don't wanna see pettis-aldo, sonnen-jones, diaz-gsp and cormier vs jones/sonnen.

Cool fight but no it doesn't make sense, and its too big a layoff for both guys. So I'm not really for it.

This is my only problem with it. Would have liked to have seen this fight in May or June or something like that. Pettis said himself he doesn't want to wait. And Aldo is usually go unless his medical suspension following UFC 156 was insanely long?

EDIT: Looked up the medical suspensions. Aldo does NOT have a medical suspension following his fight with Edgar

Melendez/Bendo is understandable.
Diaz/GSP is understandable.
Sonnen/Jones is a joke.
Pettis/Aldo is HUGE joke.

I think Edgard/Aldo was a mistake because if he loses (and he did) Zuffa will put a trouble in a top 10 career. Edgar now is in trouble.

IMO they dont like Aldo. He doesnt sell like other champions.

Well the lighter champions just don't sell as well in general. Which is understandable given the "average" fans view of combat sports and weight-classes.

And yeah, it's a shame. I still don't see this match being as foolish (from a rankings-standpoint) as Jones vs. Sonnen though
