Aldo vs. Pettis - too soon

I think that the rumored fight between Aldo and Pettis on Aug 3 will be great, however I hope it's just a rumor.

Anthony Pettis was expecting to face the winner of Benson (who he already beat) and Melendez, and I was looking forward to Benson vs. Pettis 2. Pettis said he doesn't want to wait, but he has to wait until August anyways. He could have just waited to get the lightweight shot in August.

I also believe it puts on hold fighters that already proven themselves in the division in Korean Zombie and Lamas. I do believe they would be the underdogs but so would be Pettis.
It would have been a better idea if Pettis challenged for the lightweight title first, and if he lost immediately dropped down to face Aldo (similar to Dan Henderson when he faced Rampage and Anderson consequentially).

Following: Cain , JDS, Werdum, Shogun, Machida, Weidman, Pettis, Aldo, Melendez

Pettis should be fighting at LW.

His whole reasoning for asking for Aldo is so he doesn't have to wait too long for his next fight. Having him fight Aldo in August doesn't make any sense for Pettis, seeing as a fight with Bendo/Melendez would be right around that time anyways. If the Aldo fight was in June, this would make sense. In August, not so much.

The UFC should just make Pettis take another fight at LW if he doesn't want to wait. The are FW(s) like KZ & Lamas that could be fighting Aldo.

I don't care who Pettis or Aldo fight, as long as I get to watch them fight someone.
