UFCThe Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a U.S.-based mixed martial arts organization, recognized as the largest MMA promotion in the world. The UFC is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and is owned and operated by Zuffa, LLC. This promotion is responsible for solidifying the sport's postion in the history-books.
UFC is currently undergoing a remarkable surge in popularity, along with greater mainstream media coverage. UFC programming can now be seen on FOX, FX, and FUEL TV in the United States, as well as in 35 other countries worldwide.
I tend to feel the same. I can't claim that Dana didn't have a hand in Sonnen vs. Jones, Edgar vs. Aldo, GSP vs. Diaz, and now Pettis vs. Aldo. But I also don't believe that he's sitting at home thinking, 'To hell with honour and earning your spot'. I suspect Dana very much believes in working your way up the ladder. However, these are HUGE fights as far as fan interest goes and the UFC certainly recognizes that. The objective has always been two-fold, and I can never understand why people are so surprised by this. Yes, the UFC will often give deserving fighters their due, but it also strives to put on fights that fans want to see. We've had a sudden influx of the latter, but to act as though deserving fighters will never again get their shot is jumping the gun.
But people only ever call Dana out on this. It's as if Joe Silva is only the matchmaker when good and sensible fights are made. Or that the Fertitas have no say and Dana actually owns the company, even though Lorenzo pulled the plug on Franklin vs. Henderson II just a few years ago. Dana is an important piece of the puzzle, but 'piece' is the keyword.
There is no rhyme or reason to how the UFC should be ran. There has always been undeserved title shots.
The funny thing is fans think they know how it should be ran. Or they want it ran a certain way...and when it isn't then Dana is doing bad for the sport. Or the UFC is wrong and MMA Forum poster is right.
If there was a set of guidelines as to how it would be ran...then sure. But there isn't. It used to be ran like the wild west. And still in some ways is today. The right way to run your organization is to make profit. That is the only real rule, as much as some fans like to delusion themselves into thinking otherwise.

It's not just posters and fans. It's also the athletes, the guys actually competing in the organization. We have seen a huge number of fighters come out now with problems with how shots are being given out. It's a slap in the face to the fighters. That is why so many are speaking out. Not fanboys, but fighters.
People tend to assimilate message and messenger. It's an established psychological bias.
It's not even that people think that Dana is bossing everyone in the UFC and takes every damn decision. He is just associated with everything the organisation has ever screwed up.
I've lost a lot of interest lately, mostly because of the matchmaking like Jones/Sonnen, GSP/Diaz, but what annoys me is watching UFC Tonight on Tuesday.
Pettis has no idea if he even wants to stay at 145, so why is he fighting Aldo for the title and not at a catch weight of 150?
Then you have Chael and Florian going on about it being how marketable you are, which makes sense, the UFC's a business and for a business to thrive they gotta make money, but they way they said it just really put me off.
And then this Ronda Rousey thing, saying she's done more than guys like Tito, who I'm not even a fan of, and how Cyborg's scared of her, I'm just kinda over the UFC at this point, I'll watch 157 and the free cards but after that I'm not buying PPV's for a while.
