Dude Michael Jordan, Ali, Michael Phelps, Bo Jackson, Pele are on there...this is a popularity contest if anything man, too much talent in one list.

Except the nascar driver, not to be a dick here, but driving is not a sport, and neither is freaking Golf. Respect to the guys who do these things obviously, but yeah...nope.

Its a great list that left a few good ones out. I too believe LeBron should be on that list. At 6'8" he moves likes he is six feet tall. He can dribble, run, jump and shoot as good as anybody else. In addition he is built like a tank. A very rare combination indeed. Unfortunately for TV watchers is its a little hard to comprehend. If you ever see LeBron play in person you will be in awe.

"John Brenkus will unveil the winner of each bracket matchup on "SportsCenter" based on a series of metrics including speed, strength, durability, reaction time and much more."

So I guess it's not really based on voting at all...interested to see what they come up with although it's bound to be full of holes.

Let's compare Silva and Phelps. Durability would goto Phelps, and strength I would imagine..everything else 'athletic' related I would imagine goes to Silva.

I would lean towards Lebron as probably the most amazing athlete the human race has seen..his quickness and skillfulness for someone so large and powerful is astounding.

I can't believe anyone could even compare Lebron to Jordon. Jordan is by far the best basketball player to ever grace the sport.

Secondly, if we are talking racing... it definitely is a sport and those athletes are put under much, much more physical and mental exertion than the majority of professional athletes. I definitely second the post from Bud +1

Michael Schumacher should have been on that list as well.

On that list it would have to be Jordan or Gretzky. (I have to give massive props to BO, because BO knows everything) :thumb01:

El Bresko, there was nothing malicious or idiotic about my post. I simply stated that there are faar superior mma fighters that are more athletic and more nimble than Anderson Silva. How is GSP not more athletic and superior to Anderson Silva? Who is the gymnast? Who can run as fast as an olympic sprinter? Who is super strong? GSP is. Fedor as well.

I am sure some people like NBA, but I do not and I don't think that they are anything special athetically. Pitting yourself against another man in a fight is the ultimate test of athleticism imo.
I know it comes from a good place but this comment is ridiculous.

NBA players on average are probably the most athletic group of sportsmen on the planet.

If Lebron James or Dwight Howard had wrestled since they were kids and pursued MMA they would be the two best HWs the UFC would see for a very long time.

I'd rank rugby & hockey players* above basketball, maybe American Football, too. (depends on position) Then there's triathlon, gymnasts, decathletes, stuff like that. The term "athlete" just isn't clear enough for anyone to declare anything definitively, IMO. What this amounts to is a popularity contest, basically.

*because, like Silva, they fight!

Even though my vote would have been for #23 I went with The Spider to try to create more awareness for MMA in general. I think it's still a novelty sport in some regions. People watch it, but still not at the lengths of the other majors.

Anyways I conceptualized a funny idea where the contestants challenge each other in their own respective sport. Whoever wins with the widest of margins moves on. Sound fair?
