I wish we knew what the banned substance was.
Shields is one of my favourite fighters, its a shame he's fell on such hard times since joining the UFC. He needs to work on his explosiveness with his takedowns. The man is a wizard on the ground.
I'd like to see him get a mid tier guy before going up against the big names again. Like Rick Story.
I'd like to see him and Gunnar fight

I always thought he got caught for marijuana. I remember Dana getting asked questions by the media and Shield's positive test came up...and he said "I don't know, perhaps he was ganging with the Diaz's a bit before his fight" and sort of laughed.
He should go to MW and stay. How does he expect to beat wrestlers like Kos, Hendricks, and GSP at WW. Plus Nick fights there. Makes little sense to me.

The much more likely scenario is he used a substance attempting to gain mass. Since that is what he said he was attempting to do at the time, gain mass. I seriously doubt it was a recreational drug. If it was I think he would have admitted it.

LOL. But seriously, it's unlikely he tested for weed. It's far, far more likely it was a banned substance that has to do with gaining mass or some kind of steroid. Doesn't make sense to remain hush, hush about weed. I think the chances that was the substance is almost zero.
You generally don't lose much respect for testing for weed, so really no reason not to cop to it. But I did lose respect for him after his test since I know it wasn't something as petty as weed.

The truth is none of us know what he tested positive for. Saying 'it's much, much more likely' doesn't make it much, much more likely at all.

Yeah if you want to throw common sense out the window and put on your glasses of optimism. I'll believe ya when me shit turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet. LOL you're just a optimistic fan.

No offense but both you guys are admitted fans. I know you don't want to believe your boy cheated, but everything points in that direction. It makes zero sense to hide a positive drug test. Seriously common sense suggest otherwise.

I'm not a Shields fan but he's the only man to beat Dan Henderson in the last four years, Shogun, Fedor, Feijao, Bisping, and Franklin all couldn't do it but he did. I think he's better at 185 though.
Also everyone who gets popped for roids/testosterone all get a year, Shields only got six months which is what Nick got for his first suspension for pot.
