I'd actually like to see Swanson/Lamas over Swanson/KZ at this point. No set return for KZ yet, Lamas and Swanson are both on a tear, and Pettis is holding up the FW title.

Lamas beat Swanson recent enough that a rematch isnt neccessary and there is no point in eliminating contenders in a shallow division.

Some of these guys need a good dose of "shut the fu*k up".
I'm getting sick of everyone trying to talk their way into fights that they don't deserve. He's lost 3 fights (I don't care that they were against top talent/champions), he shouldn't be headlining anything. Moreover - this is just another reason why non-title fights should have never been made 5 rounds.
Title shot = 5 rounds
Everything else = 3 rounds.
None of this arbitrary BS of whoever headlines gets 5 rounds. Obviously Frankie wants 5 rounds against Cub... Cub probably will gas after 2 or 3, or at least slow tremendously. Frankie has gone 5 rounds 6 times now... it's obvious he wants to pace himself to a decision win...

Frkanie should just be given a gatekeeper so he can fight his way back up. He is coming from 3 Title Shots and 3 losses, he shouldnt be fast tracked for more a la Urijah Faber.

I think you would have a better argument if you adjusted your statement to include LW. I can see that more since many people still don't know more then 2 fighters below LW. But you have plenty of well known fighters at 155.

I do agree to some degree that LW is a step above the ones below it. I think it goes WW + above, then LW, then everything below LW. But even LW has had trouble drawing, hence why Bendo/Diaz was on TV. I know Cain/JDS was on TV, but that was the first fight so it had to be something huge (originally supposed to be Lesnar vs. Overeem).
Aldo/Bendo drew like crap the second time around, and the first time it drew not so good even with a strong overall card. Edgar/Maynard WITH Aldo title fight and a Sonnen fight couldn't get the same as Rampage/Hammill. I think that shows the drawing power (or lack there of) of the lighter classes.

I think over time that will improve. LW was gone for awhile but I think it really done a great job of establishing what many consider to be the deepest weight class in MMA. For years the LHW division was considered to be the most stacked weight class in MMA. But in recent years LW has taken over that role. There are quite a few LWs that are known fighters now. Even going back to BJ Penn and Kenny Florian. The lower weight classes are much newer divisions. People aren't as familiar with most of the fighters still. You could be right and people may never pickup on the lower weight classes. I think eventually the FW division will be like the LW division is today. It's already added a ton of depth over the last couple of years. I'm not as confident in the weigh classes below that catching on. I'll always love them but I'm not sure the public will ever share those feelings. Just my personal thoughts. You could be right, time will tell.

Frankie should get a 3 round fight against any top 10 opponent.

The way Edgar looked at the ref while throwing pitter pat punches at Maynard for the finish was pathetic. Shows what sort of fighter he is. Apparently if he makes it to the end of the fight he's the winner.
