UFC 160 Picks Up Junior Dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem

Quote:
As reported by Ariel Helwani on UFC Tonight, UFC 160 will also feature a bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem. The two fighters have been in a heated war of words ever since Overeem failed a drug test that nixed a fight between the two at UFC 146.

This is a fight that fans have been itching for, but many feared would never come to fruition. Overeem was a heavy favorite in his UFC 156 bout with Antonio Silva, and there were rumbles that a win would move him directly into title contention. Silva, though, shocked the world with an electrifying knockout that had fans leaping from their seats.

Dos Santos, like Overeem, is coming off a rough loss. While “Cigano” scored a quick knockout over Velasquez to earn the belt at UFC on Fox 1, and followed that up with another knockout of Frank Mir, his rematch with Velasquez was downright lopsided

UFC 160 is set to take place on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to the aforementioned heavyweight tilts, we will also see a matchup between crafty kickboxer Stephen Thompson and TUF7 winner Amir Sadollah.

This is great! I'm almost glad...no wait, I think I am glad, that Overeem lost! Now I get the match I actually wanted!

Can't say I am feeling as confident for Overeem, though! hahah.

I'm also very excited for this fight, but in a way, I'm upset that one of them has to lose, lol.

No way does Overeem come in overconfident vs JDS. Especially after the Bigfoot embarassment.

Great fight.
Overeem will come prepared this time and will face JDS willing to unleash the beast in the Reem after the ownage he took against Cain.

Yeah, can't wait for this one. Like both guys, but I'm a bigger Reem fan so I'm siding with him in this one. Fireworks!

I know everyone is completely writing off Reem since he lost to Bigfoot. He was an idiot in this fight and completely overlooked his opponent. While I do give the edge to Dos Santos I don't think it will be a walk in the park for him.

I think even if Overeem had won against Bigfoot he would have come into this fight a lot more humble and respectful of his opponent. Overeem may have disrespected Bigfoot and overlooked his potential to land that big shot, but I think Overeem has always respected JDS' striking. Who wouldn't?

Now that he got embarrassed by Bigfoot I am really curious to see what his agression is going to be like vs JDS.
