Report: Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman in talks for July event

Tatame confirmed through Weidman's agent Dave Martin that the UFC has made initial talks with them, but the fight itself is not set in stone. Silva's manager Ed Soares has reportedly negotiated to make the fight for the UFC's normal mega-PPV on Independence Day weekend in Las Vegas.

I want to see this fight, but I do think it's a bad idea for Chris to take a championship bout after such a long layoff. Then again, Silva hasn't fought in ages either. Don't know... the timing just doesn't feel right.

And there it is. Chris gets the fight hes been clamouring after and the Silva slayers can stop with the ducking nonsense.
Having said that, I also kind of agree with Canadaman. It's a bit of a waste to not give Chris a chance to get his riddim back properly. We all want to see the fight. I want it to be as competitive as possible.

I'm very interested in seeing how this fight plays out. I really think Chris is the biggest threat to Anderson out there right now. But this fight will show us if he really was ready or not. I expect it to be very competitive.

Hoping Andy takes it.
I want to see him reigning the p2p throne for a few more years,
but at 38 this might not be easy...

Everyone knew Andy was going to be taking several months off. This is when he said he was going to fight next the only issue was whether it would be a super fight with GSP/Bones or a MW title defense against whoever the number one contender was at the time.

This is good for Weidman, he's going to lose, and he's going to lose bad... but he's young enough to bounce back and be a title threat again after Silva has retired or vacated the title.
