Another BS cut by Zuffa, Diego Nunes
I can't beleive they cut Nunes. Insane. That dude has been fighting nothing but top level guys and hasn't lost back to back fights at any point in his career. Just got done beating Palaszewski and has wins over Manny and MTB. Just insane.

Nunes was one of the fighters I was most excited about coming across from the WEC.
Can't say he's really done anything of note since then, which is a shame.

He has held his own vs top ranked fighters. I know he is alternating wins and losses but he is fighting nothing but top guys. Before losing to Lentz he beat Bart and that is a very nice win. He is still arguably a top 10 fighter and before losing to Lentz he was securely in the top 10.

Nunes is 3-3 in the UFC overall & 1-2 in his last 3 fights. He has not won back-to-back fights in the UFC. And every time he takes a step up in competition, he loses. I am not surprised by the decision to cut him.

He hasn't lost back to back fights either. He beat former Champ MTB, former contender Manny and Bart who has been "in the mix" forever. He had a close fight with Kenny and is still a legit top 10 fighter. This is a total BS move.

There is nothing BS about this cut. Beating mediocre fighters & losing to fighters who are not near the top of the featherweight division is not a successful formula. If he can string a few wins together in another organization, he will be back. |

Yeah, let's hate on the UFC some more!
This isn't anywhere near the 'travesty' that cutting Jon Fitch was. Nunes is a mediocre fighter in an increasingly stacked division. Not a big loss, and I doubt that anyone is going to react all that strongly (minus you, lol).

He was beating ranked fighters, WTF are you talking about? His schedule is about as tough as they come and he was alternating wins. He just came off a big win.
Some serious Zuffa huggers on this board, can't even acknowledge mistakes by Zuffa since I guess they never make mistakes. Insane.

I'm beginning to think EA Sports are behind these cuts! About 50% of the roster on UFC undisputed 3 have now been cut!

Dude, Mike Brown was shot when he fought Nunes and nobody actually believes that Bart Palaszewski is any good. No one here is saying that Nunes is an awful fighter, but he's the definition of mediocre. And in today's stacked featherweight division, he's really no big loss.
People are willing to acknowledge and call out Zuffa for actions and decisions they deem bad for business (which itself is another topic). All you need do is look to fan reaction over Sonnen vs. Jones, or the Jon Fitch release. But you're trying to make a big stink out of what is hardly a shocking or detrimental cut, and no one is going to buy into the hate mongering. |
