Faber didn't want to cut Menjivar?

Was Faber going easy on his elbow strikes? Looks like he was avoiding full impact because he didn't want to cut his opponent?

slightly off topic but I have a lot more respect for Faber's skills after this fight. I still think he is over rated but not as much as before
