UFC 157 rumoured to have 40% higher buyrate than Ufc 156

Twitter is buzzing that Rousey vs Carmouche did 40% better in PPV buys against the star-studded Ufc 156.

Jeremy Botter ‏@jeremybotter
Means over 600k. RT @latimespugmire: . I'm told Saturdays fight was 40% better than the Super Bowl card. #UFC157”

Despite the PPV buys not made public (yet)

This is obviously big news on two fronts, first huge for Womens MMA and sport in general, as it was all on them. Hendo and Machida are not huge PPV draws to begin with.

Second, despite having PPV draws in Rashad and Overeem, the plague of sub - 170 championship fail to draw the respect of the PPV $$. The superbowl card is usually well attended and sold on PPV (due to the stacking of the card).

Fair enough. I hear Court McGee is pretty popular with that demographic.

I bought UFC 156 but it wasn't to see Rashad Evans... I never really considered him a big draw guy. The dude gets hated on at every weigh-in, no matter where it's at.

Machida's fights with Shogun and Raahad both sold well, his fight with Rampage did good too. Not sure why people don't think he's a draw he was pretty damn popular before the first Shogun fight.

Any time you have a "first"... you are going to have more people tuning in. Just like how I know people who watched the Daytona 500 (NASCAR) on the same weekend even tho they don't like NASCAR just because they heard "this woman Danica was racing".

I don't know if a headlining woman's fight will always be a big draw...?
