dumb fight, nate would land at will on the feet, and is more than good enough to scramble and grapple with diego which is where diego is at his best.. i doubt it would ever even make it to the ground though because diegos wrestling is just average..

Head-butting fists and KOing the air is not effective striking.

The Diego of old perhaps (you know, the one who could actually utilize his wrestling). But the Sanchez we've been seeing lately is a shell of his former self. You can't honestly sit there and tell me that the Sanchez who fought last night wouldn't get creamed by Nate. I mean, let's put all of the BS aside... Sanchez flat out lost to Gomi, who was destroyed by Nate. I don't normally embrace MMA math, but there's no question who the better striker is, regardless of pace and cardio - which Nate Diaz has for days. If Diego is dumb enough to stand and trade with Nate, and he might not be given the choice because his wrestling truly has deteriorated, he will get battered.

I don't ever remember him missing weight before, I expected him to trash Gomi and he didn't but I think his next performance will be better, he had not cut that amount of weigh in a long time and to do it in a foreign country can be disastrous.

I think he can be top ten and I think he's a bad match up for Nate but he'll clearly have to be better than he was last night.

I'd like to see this. I think Nate takes it after he beats Josh.

I agree with most of this. Diego may not be what he once was, but last night is not how Diego fights. He's not a guy who just circles and looks tentative for three rounds. I think he can do better and I'm honestly hoping the cut just effected him too much. Honestly, the short duration where he did look like the Diego of old, he had Gomi backed up and at a disadvantage. I'm not sure why he would follow that up with just circling away and not committing to anything. I'm reserving judgment on Diego at the moment. I'm not going to throw him under the bus for one bad performance. He's just lucky he got the decision and has a chance to redeem himself. If he had lost, who knows how his future in the UFC would have looked. I'm expecting much more from Diego in his next fight, but we will see. I could be wrong, but I'm going to remain optimistic. I'm not one of those fans who just trashes a fighter because of one performance. If it happens again next time, then I'll agree with the general thought about Diego Sanchez right now.

He may drop a decision to Nate if they fight and if he's unable to take him down, but I still think he can make an impact in the division if he returns to his natural form in the octagon.

Back when Diego was on a tear I would predict him manhandling Nate, but Nate got alot better and Diego got worse, I think Nate would beat current day Sanchez. Diego might have a chance if he holds Nate down, because he can take him down with ease and his subdefence is good.

Let's face it - Diego would've steamrolled & ragdolled Gomi if he had distilled water.

You think he can take Diaz down with ease these days? I don't. He may push him against the cage and hang onto 1 leg. WHere Diaz's height will help him.

I think Diego is basically an ok wrestler. Might get a TD that he does nothing with...but with ease? No way in my opinion. Diego was never a great wrestler.
