UFC Quick Quote: Diego Sanchez calls out Nate Diaz next, wants to be first man to defeat both brothers

UFC on FUEL TV 8 winner Diego Sanchez had a memorable three-round scrap with Nick Diaz at UFC The Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale in 2005, and following his split decision win over Takanori Gomi in Japan, "The Dream" wants to get his hands on the younger Diaz brother.

Quote:

"The fight I want right now he has a fight lined up, but the fight I want is Nate Diaz. I want to be the first one to say, I beat both the Diaz brothers.' And I got the bigger brother on the resume already, so I want to go in there and get the little brother and we make - our styles make for an awesome, awesome fight. Ground battles -- it's just a great fight and that's who I'd like to fight."
-- Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight Diego Sanchez already has his next opponent in mind after his controversial split decision win over Takanori Gomi in Japan as "The Dream" told Gareth A. Davies on the UFC on FUEL TV 8 post-fight show that he has his eyes on Nate Diaz. With a 2005 unanimous decision win over current welterweight No. 1 contender Nick Diaz under his belt, Sanchez wants to take out younger brother Nate and become the first man to beat both Stockton natives. Diaz is currently scheduled to fight Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 7 on April 20, 2013, but if he comes out on top it's entirely possible a fight with Sanchez could take place, especially because the Diaz bothers don't take call-outs too kindly. Despite bringing very different personalities to the table, the two men come from common beginnings in the UFC, as they were both winners of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality show. There have been several occasions in the past where TUF winners have squared off inside the Octagon; however, one could make an argument that Sanchez vs. Diaz would be one of the most anticipated of them all.

I'd be down for that after Thomson beats Nate.

Nate is going to wreck Josh Thompson. You need to stop predicting fights, breh. Your track record betrays you.

Anyway, Sanchez isn't in any position to be calling out anyone. He lost his fight against Gomi, looked like complete crap, and would get mauled by Diaz if he tried to pull the same BS strategy he employed last night.

Diego pisses me off just for the simple fact that he legit thought he beat Gomi without issue

I dunno. The look on his face when he's given it is more one of surprise and wonder.

Diego doesn't deserve it. He lost vs. Gomi. But then again I wouldn't mind it because Nate would mop the floor with him.

If Nate loses to Thomson then maybe. But I have Nate winning that fight and he would still be a top 5 LW. Diego should just get the loser of that fight. HE would lose to either.

I would like to see that fight just to see Nate beat his ass.

But WTF!!!! Gomi got Robbed!!! Did anyone here honestly thought Sanchez won that fight. I'm a pretty big Diego fan, but he got shut down and out-boxed every round. I just don't get it anymore:confused03:

Diego is a terrible match up for Nate, he's one of the few guys who can match the pace the Diaz bros set, has an iron chin and his submission defense is pretty solid.

Diego may not land a single flush punch the whole fight. He hardly does any fight. But with the reach disadvantage and Nate's skill he might not even land.

Also, Diego's wrestling is SOOOOOOO overrated. He is not a good wrestler....he is an ok wrestler. He is NOT even close to a better wrestler than Jim Miller. The DIaz Bros have also gotten better at dealing with wrestlers since those days. At least Nate has. His TDD isn't great, but it is at least ok now.

Diego would get dotted up for 3 or 5 rounds. It would be mostly a stand up fight. I would be willing to bet you anything on that fight if it should happen. Diego just lost to a maybe top 25 LW. A guy Nate ripped apart. Diego is garbage right now.
