And I have to correct my Wrestling formula to:
Wrestling = TD + grappling + TDD. TDD was missing.
I realize that most wrestlers also train BJJ these days or at the very least catch wrestling and/or sub defense. But for my point look at the primary discipline for the current UFC Champions. Cain, Jones, GSP, Bendo all rely heaving on wrestling. Not just the Champions but there are a ton of guys at the top of the divisions that rely heavy on wrestling and it's their strongest weapon. Even GSP who didn't start as a wrestlers clearly focuses heavy on wrestling and it has become his strongest aspect of his game. I'm not saying BJJ isn't great and at a high level you can't be dominate because there are plenty of examples of that as well. Just IMO due to the current scoring system wrestling is the most dominate art or technique in MMA today.

I still think Rory/GSP will turn out like Evans/Jones. Rory's too hungry to play second fiddle.

I have to see more. He surely has skills, but beating down little old Penn and Che Mills doesn't tell me much when we are talking GSP level.

maia takes this unless rory can keep it standing, even so i think maia would just clinch it the whole time and tire rory until he got the TD..

only guys i see giving maia a challenge right now is GSP, Condit, and maybe Rory

I don't know, Rory has really learned a lot at Tristar and GSP is still a Champ in his prime unlike Rashad even though he was gonna get a title shot when he got hurt. I doubt Firas would do what Jackson did and go for the young guy while Georges is in his prime and has the belt.

Rory will be a Middleweight soon too, by the time GSP falls off he'll probably be at 185.

I wasn't referencing a fight or scenario so much as Rory's one day saying, 'I'll fight GSP if the UFC asks me to'. He may have recanted, but at his previous post fight press conference, he didn't initially seem too opposed to the idea of fighting Georges. Like Jones, Rory wants to be the best. And unless he does indeed move up to MW, that means fighting GSP. He knows this but is keeping quiet so that he can milk Tristar before moving on.

You mean he will be at 185 when there is no Anderson threat to put him on his ass?

I agree.

So Rory's moving up July 7th? Don't guess he'll be fighting Maia then.

this is such an awesome fight..especially since Rory doesn't seem to be pushing for a title fight.

If Maia can actually beat Rory he is real close for a title shot IMO.
