Could Gsp vs Diaz be a classic.

I was just thinking and hoping that Saturday's main event could offer a lot more than people think. Gsp seem's really into this fight and with Diaz certainly doing all the right things to piss Gsp off, could we get a classic. Gsp has been promising exciting fights and finishes for a while so could we see a stand up war Saturday? Or do we see a Jackson Gameplan off 5 rounds of nothing?. I really hope Diaz makes Gsp work were ever the fight goes, and ime certainly hoping he gets in Gsp's head in the fight. I hope Gsp turn's up to fight.

What you guy's think.?

Diaz..Edgar.. Cormier.. Cain.. Mir.. Overeem.. Jon Jones

I think this fight is going to be exciting whether GSP stands and tries to KO Diaz on the feet or if GSP takes Diaz down. I think GSP will fight a little more aggressive, but still not give too many openings

I think it'll be too one sided to go down as a classic.

I think it'll be a classic in as much as Penn vs Sanchez was.

I severely doubt this will be a classic. GSP will take Diaz down and pound on him for 5 rounds. Diaz will think his Jits is good enough and be happy to stay there looking for submissions off his back, but GSP will be too strong and it will go the same was as it usually does. Diaz will get pissed off, talk shit about how GSP just lays and prays, threads will be started dissing GSP, and the whole argument that he is a boring fighter will have its time again. Thats until it dies down and his next fight comes around where people again start to hope that maybe we will see him fight an entertaining fight. But we all know how he fights, and what to expect at this stage. The most boxing we are gona see from GSP is his straight jab before his takedown.

Well obviously any fight could turn out to be a classic, but I don't see it here. I mean I am very very excited for the fight, but a classic would mean it would have to really stand out from all of the other fights.

Two men leaned on a cage for 25 minutes. Unlikely a classic.

A classic beatdown perhaps.

This is surely whats going to happen. I wonder is Diaz going to be even training hard to avoid the fight going to the floor, or is he going to be so confident in his Jits that he thinks he can prevent GSP doing heavy damage on the ground?

Sonnen silva first fight is an interesting one to compare for this. Sonnens wrestling was so good the jits guy couldnt do anything really on the ground until the last round. In GSP's case though he does a lot more damage from the top then Sonnen. Personally I dont think Jits is going to be that affective against GSP because once he lands a few elbows to the skull Diaz's jits will be a bit withered.

I suspect this will really depend on whether GSP/Jackson feel threatened by Diaz's BJJ.
If they do, GSP could be hesitant to take the fight to the mat (a la GSP/Shields), and we could possibly see more of a stand-up battle, with a few TD's sprinkled in by GSP for flavour.

In all honestly, that's how I see this going. If they do go to the mat, I don't think GSP will mess around down there- he'll score his points, then they'll be up as soon as he feels in any way threatened.

GSP via stronger grappling along the cage, good leg kicks, and TD's when necessary.
