Nick Diaz accuses GSP of being on 'plenty of steroids,' suggests crooked drug testing

UFC 158's Nick Diaz accuses Georges St. Pierre of being on 'plenty of steroids,' suggests crooked drug test treatment

Controversial UFC welterweight Nick Diaz made headlines again today (March 16, 2013) when the 29-year-old told "Tim and Sid" of Canadian news outlet Sportsnet that he believes his UFC 158 opponent Georges St. Pierre is on "plenty of steroids."

Nick Diaz may have missed Wednesday's open workouts (read his reason), but he is without a doubt making it up for it with numerous headline-making statements in the 24 hours since his latest promotional flake job.

Diaz, who will challenge Georges St. Pierre for his Welterweight championship this Saturday night (March 16, 2013) at UFC 158: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz," has accused his upcoming foe of being an unnatural athlete, alleging "Rush" is on "plenty of steroids."

Following Thursday's (March 14, 2013) eventful UFC 158 pre-fight press conference in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (watch it here), the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight No. 1 contender told "Tim and Sid" of Sportsnet Fan 590 that he believes "Rush" is on steroids.

"I believe that he's on plenty of steroids," Diaz said in the interview. "And I don't think they test around here and I don't think I'll be tested as well. I don't care what they're saying or marketing to the media, I don't think either of us are going to be tested and if so, he's probably got a bottle of piss in his pocket. I doubt they're standing over him making sure he's not on steroids."
What bold, and perhaps even slanderous, statement from the Stockton native. Not to mention short-sighted, considering he has been popped for pot twice already and seemingly doesn't seem concerned if it happens or not again this weekend.

Diaz certainly isn't the first person to call the longtime 170-pound champion out as a person who abuses performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). In 2009, former two-division UFC champion B.J. Penn insinuated St. Pierre isn't a clean athlete, a statement that was not well received by the 31-year-old.

One that "The Prodigy" later retracted.

St. Pierre won't take kindly to Diaz's latest comments. And it's a shame these accusations came out so close to fight time because it likely means we won't hear a rebuttal from the French-Canadian until after UFC 158.

i like gsp and dislike the diaz brothers but this is possible. if i were to bet money on one of these two to use steroids it would certainly not be Diaz. He smokes weed and thats fine, i highly doubt he would ever take anything performance enhancing.

In the past, many current and former fighters have claimed that a relatively high proportion of fighters use steroids, but because of the predictable testing schedule and the relative ease of cycling off the drugs, a low percentage of these users actually get caught. For this reason, it wouldn't surprise me if GSP (and a lot of other fighters) were on roids.

That being said, you can't just claim that someone is on roids with no proof of the matter, and because of GSP's clean past, everyone should take GSP at this word that he doesn't use roids and should continue to believe him unless somethign concrete were to surface.

Nick! Love ya, but you're a friggin' weenie, dude. Wait until you get your ass beat before you start with outrageous accusations.

Nick seems to think there is and has been a huge conspiracy by the entire world to keep him down and keep him from mentioned as the greatest mixed martial artist in the world.

Sounds like Diaz is already trying to make excuses for getting the tar beat out of him by GSP

Are we forgetting that GSP was the sole reason for the commission changing their rules on the corner men/fighter interactions during the fights and is now why referees and officials check fighters for grease or large amounts of Vaseline before/during fights.

Again, GSP was the sole reason for this rule change. His exposed greasing during the BJ Penn fight was scandalous, this guy is a through and through cheat. He's most likely been cycling steroids his entire career.

Ahh, but he's nice to the cameras and a hit with the ladies, GSP would never cheat! Please.
