Ask everyone who was saying wandy has better chin at 205, they said something about the neck muscles and maybe the gas tank has something to do with it

Just guessing here...
Fat, don't see how. Water, only if the lack of it (in order to make weight) weakened your organism as a whole. But normally fighters cut along muscle mass and that could impact negatively in the resistence of your neck, I think, allowing a punch to bounce your head easier.

And in response to the question above, water in your body (or lack of it) affects everything.

This.

Basically if you're cutting around 40lbs (i think Cote walks around at 210lbs) you are going to lose some muscle mass, he is not losing 40lbs of pure water and fat, it's almost biologically impossible to lose that much weight and none of it being muscle.

um yes this. very important. it's been proven that dehydration complicates brain injury, it's a renowned problem in weight cutting sports, moreso today than ever.

Some fairly prominent MMA fighter's son just got his wrestling medals stripped because he cut more weight than legally allowed... just a couple of weeks ago

Really hoping Cote can get the win here. I like the guy, but he's had such unfortunate luck in the UFC since his freak loss to Anderson Silva. He seems to be in great shape and he should have dropped to 170 a long time ago. It is scary that he once fought Tito Ortiz at 205, and that's back when Ortiz was still considered a monster.

What's the story on Voelker? I'd appreciate a more informative response than "he's better than Cote." I only have his fight record to go on and who he's fought.

Cote actually cut the weight properly. He didn't have to starve himself/dehydrate himself to paralysis. His chin won't be affected.

Great to see Cote getting another chance in the UFC. He has been fighting for years before MMA was acknowledged as a proper sport. Half of the UFC roster were probably starting BJJ at that time.

He may be a victim of not evolving with modern MMA but this cut to WW gives me hope that he has found a new level.
