Interesting. I was wondering why and how GSP was able to stay in Diaz' full guard as often as he did without getting into trouble. Now I know, and it was surprisingly simple yet effective. Like so many other things that GSP does, it's a matter of focusing on the basics and getting it perfect.

Wow these guys are good at explaining.
Makes me respect GSP even more. Yeah, he doesnt take risks, but damn he truly has an incredible amount of MMA knowledge.

The shin on leg during the Turtle, very well explained when watching these guys. I wondered why he didnt take the back during the fight.

You guys should check out their channel though - almost 50 breakdowns in there! Both of recent UFC/StrikeForce events but also a lot of real-life advice

Ok dear Gracie analyst as much as you are hilarious and offer great insights i have to correct you on something - playing fight safe does not make it amazing it makes it boring plain and simple.

It is effective but its freaking boring.

Every game has it's rules and they can be changed maybe one day but until then we will be forced to watch this crap.

On the other end of spectrum you have fighters like Wanderlei hell even Anderson Silva (except for Maia fight) who want to make a fight look interesting and do it for the sake of sport not just scoring ananother win and securing financial position.

I love GSP and some of his fights were indeed.. amazing he has black belt in almost anything and its a waste all he does is take people down and keep them there!!!

GSP L&P? Not really.


You do realize that over half the fight was stand up? Right? That would mean Diaz had almost a whole regular 3 round match to fight 'his fight', and still got totally taken to school.

When Diaz wasn't turtling, GSP was G&Ping, not L&Ping.

He got out boxed 40 to 103 in significant strikes landed, and 80 to 210 for total strikes.

You should watch the breakdown if you really think GSPs black belts are wasted ... JJ is not just about offense. Like any martial art they teach both offense and defense (many actually put more emphasis on defense,) so if GSP was able to defend himself against the supposed best WW JJ master in the UFC, then his black belt is certainly not wasted at all.
