UFC releases Japanese middleweight Riki Fukuda

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2013/3/20...ukuda-mma-news

Quote:
Former DEEP middleweight champion Riki Fukuda tweeted yesterday that he is no longer with the UFC. The Japanese fighter lost a decision to Brad Tavares in his home country at UFC on Fuel 8.

Fukuda (19-7) went 2-3 in the UFC over a 2+ year time span. His debut against Nick Ring was a loss, but no reasonable person (other than the 3 judges) could've possibly scored that fight for Ring. He recorded his first official UFC win last February in Japan over Steve Cantwell, but fell short against Constantinos Philippou at UFC 148. Fukuda sent Tom DeBlass out of the UFC last November, but now he's gone after Tavares defeated him earlier this month. All five of his fights ended in unanimous decisions.
Another one bites the dust!

Dammit. I was afraid this might happen. I've always liked Fukuda, but he fought with a terrible game plan last fight. Hopefully he can wrack up a few wins, find success elsewhere, and go from there.

I was gutted to see him cut too, 2-3 isn't a bad run considering others who are still employed. Yeah, dumb gameplan last fight but as you say I wanna see him get a few good wins...he is UFC material IMO. Bit of a harsh cut there, not on a Jon Fitch kinda scale but still.

Jon Fitch has just tweeted:
Quote:
Come fight for @MMAWorldSeries RT @rikifukuda: Im cut from UFC.I had a special experience.Thank you very much all my support @AKA_HQ

This should help explain why he is gone. Failed drug test.

Fukuda tested positive for banned stimulants (phenylpropanolamine, norpseudoephedrine and ephedrine), and Caceres was flagged for marijuana metabolites.

Why's everyone so upset about this? The guy never showed anything in the UFC. Just like every other Asian fighter...

This should be added to the OP for better context.

How sensitive are those tests?

If a UFC fighter was walking to the cage and someone in the stands was smoking weed. Breathed in the faintest whiff of it. Would that be a positive?

Because they are a fan? use your logic. And the last comment is false there are a few Asians who have had strong showings in the UFC.

Don't you hate it when a fighter you are a fan of is found to be cheating? Does it effect your fanhood?
