They only train that hard with a fight coming up not during the off season, so a longer layoff between fights means time for recovery before rough training too.

Agreed on the no Canada though, this one needs to be back in good ol Vegas.

Agreed with everyone here and blindly follow Dana in saying, get him out of Canada, fight in any other country to get the pressure off him. People talk about the way he is safe. What people (especially in the states) don't realize is the pressure for him to win in Canada. He has such a high status here, that the pressure may be too much here. New Jersey is like Canada for MMA fans, and ufc 100 he tore something, but for everyone that cried about his inability to finish fights has tu understand his mental game to win in a Country he is revered as a god.

He is injured/hurt or whatever, he himself made no excuse. Firaz is helping his fighter with his known confidence issues. Every champ has an 'issue' (look at his MTV cribs Brazilan episode to know what time it really is).

Nick is @ the back of the line.

As the pressure thing I don't get it for GSP, I understand there is pressure, but I see Brazilian fighters take their game to the next level when fighting at home. Regardless where he fights he's GSP he has a huge fan base everywhere so the pressure is always there. Fighting in Canada makes it easier for him as it's more convenient. Also in other sports league the home team loves playing at home. No matter where GSP fights he'll have pressure, that's what sucks when ur the only superstar from Canada.

Do you remember when GSP fought outside of Canada?

Pepperide Farm remembers.

He was exciting, but one can argue since the Serra lost things change. I don't think location matters, as after the Serra fight he lost that exciting factor. He fought Dan Hardy outside Canada.

Location shouldn't really matter as every other fighter Champion has fought well in their birth place or place they live in, Ie. Anderson Silva, Cain, Jon Jones, Ben Henderson, etc. I don't see why pressure should be apply to GSP, as every other fighter performances well in their home area.

yeah, I don't buy the "home pressure" thing either. Other Canadian stars don't have that issue. (hockey in the last winter olympics, anyone? lol)

Thread got derailed to a good subject.
Anyway, about the topic, I wanna hear a fighter is 110%, when he is 110%.
I wanna hear any piece of info that could be impacting on the fighters performance, either from team mates or fighters themselves. I will judge what i think is BS or not.

Wanna hear a bunch of excuses babbled on the go? Just watch Nick post fight interview with Ariel.

GSP will fight the same style outside of Canada that he does inside of Canada. In my opinion, it's not so much the pressure of losing in Canada as it is the pressure of losing period. St. Pierre is probably aware of just how good he is, but he has a great respect for the chinks in his armour. Perhaps too much respect (bordering on fear). Whereas someone like Anderson is so confident in the abilities he does have that he's able to disregard his weaknesses and fight with a little less caution. I maintain that if we could take Anderson's confidence and instil it in someone like GSP, the latter would be a killing machine.

Maybe GSP needs to lose to get out of this funk. Maybe being on top for so long has worn thin and the fire is gone. After the Serra defeat, you could tell that even when he didn't finish, he was legitimately TRYING to finish. He put a beating on Fitch and Penn, stopped Serra with consistent knees, finished Hughes twice, and demolished Alves. Whereas with Diaz, I was practically pleading with him to throw more knees when he had Nick in prime position to do some damage... the man just needs to find his hunger again.

To quote the mighty Bane, victory has defeated GSP.

LOL, the thread is moving along pretty decently. No one is even talking about Nick Diaz. Then there you go.

This is what people who don't like Nick Diaz bring to threads. They can't stop posting about the guy. But then they blame it on the crazy Diaz fans.

Thread originally is about injuries, which normally traduces in "excuses" for many posters. From my end, I prefer to hear all about pros and cons as I mentioned.

Stiil regarding excuses, I just pointed where to find proper bad ones being made up live. Too bad you can't deny that.
