I dont enjoy stand ups either simply because they make it possible for guys to not focus so much on wrestling since they know they can be stood up....i think there should be yellow cards and purse deduction for stalling...be it on the ground, standing, or against the fence
And more importantly, actually enforce the timidity rule, this is the biggest factor, you should be able to deduct 1 point each round if the fighter is just stalling, he needs to work, advance position, cause damage, go for subs/KOs...if a fighter is clearly avoiding the fight, take a point away..then the only way for them to win by stalling is if they truly dominate a round where their opponent had 0 offense, then even with point deduction they win a 9-8 round...and rounds where someone causes a lot of damage and almost finishes the fights should be 10-7
The problem with this is the refs would really have to step their game up and know when a fighter is actually stalling/running away...for example a good ref wouldnt enforce timidity in the Diaz vs Condit fight...or in Machida vs Henderson. Bur you could use it in the Maia vs Silva fight..and a couple of others i cant remember now
I think this is a fair way to let these guys fight...if you want to win by taking 0 risks you can, but you better be damn good to secure a 9-8 round and not mind losing 10% of your purse. Because yes if a wrestler is just holding you down it is your fault you cant get up...but at the same time its almost impossible to get up if the guy on top doesnt create any space/openings by using GnP or try to advance position.
