TUF 17 Finale salaries

TUF 17 Finale salaries: Urijah Faber, Cole Miller top fighter payroll
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Apr 14, 2013 at 9:00 am ET

Main-event winner Urijah Faber ($110,000) and Facebook prelims victor Cole Miller ($42,000) were the top earners at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale on Saturday.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed the figures with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The total disclosed payroll for the event was $508,500.

The TUF 17 Finale took place at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Faber submitted fellow bantamweight Scott Jorgensen in the FX-televised headliner. In the co-headliner, Kelvin Gastelum ($16,000) upset Uriah Hall ($8,000) to win the "TUF 17" tournament. Additionally, Cat Zingano ($14,000) scored a knockout win over Miesha Tate ($28,000).

The full TUF 17 Finale salaries included:

Urijah Faber: $110,000 (includes $55,000 win bonus)
def. Scott Jorgensen: $23,500

Kelvin Gastelum: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Uriah Hall: $8,000

Cat Zingano: $14,000 (includes $7,000 win bonus)
def. Miesha Tate: $28,000

Travis Browne: $40,000 (includes $20,000 win bonus)
def. Gabriel Gonzaga: $24,000

Robert McDaniel: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Gilbert Smith: $8,000

Josh Samman: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Kevin Casey: $8,000

Luke Barnatt: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Collin Hart: $8,000

Dylan Andrews: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Jimmy Quinlan: $8,000

Clint Hester: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Bristol Marunde: $8,000

Cole Miller: $42,000 (includes $21,000 win bonus)
def. Bart Palaszewski: $15,000

Maximo Blanco: $26,000 (includes $13,000 win bonus)
def. Sam Sicilia: $8,000

Daniel Pineda: $26,000 (includes $13,000 win bonus)
def. Justin Lawrence: $8,000

Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter's income. They also do not include any other "locker room" or special discretionary bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays.

For example, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out additional $50,000 TUF 17 Finale bonuses to Browne ("KO of the Night"), Pineda ("Submission of the Night"), and Zingano and Tate ("Fight of the Night").

In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.

Love the win bonuses. Prevents them from throwing the fights imo. Don't say it won't or can't happen. I'm sure every fighter has had it cross their minds. Not worth throwing their careers, but I'm almost certain someone will do it eventually if it hasn't already happened. Otherwise I'm confident 90% - 99% fighters play to win.

Without sparking a debate, "if" I had to bet I would have bet a ton of money on Rashad against Lil Nog. Lil Nog does not do very well against wrestlers and look how the fight transpired. I'll just cop it to Rashad training with The Reem and Tyrone thinking he was a top level kick boxer who jabbed his way to a decision loss...lolz! Sadly had I bet it probably would have been sour grapes.

Anyways I agree this was a really small card with low wages. It's a warm up for the LHW title card I suppose!

Marcus Aurelius: Tell me again, Maximus, why are we here?
Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

this card didnt have to have anyone "special" on it. it was already getting covered because 1. its a TUF finale, 2. the second ever womens fight in the UFC. Would it have been awesome to slap some bigger names on there? Sure, but not neccessary for Zuffa. I, like most of yall probably, watch every fight. It doesnt matter whos in it, i watch em all. So sometimes they gotta hold back the names for the bigger cards. im okay with that.

that being said, Im really surprised in the payoff. I kinda thought that guys like Faber would have broken into the 6 figures by now. It just goes to show how little they care about the lighter weights right now. Faber is IMO the UFC's biggest name under 155. Hell maybe even under 170. How many title fights has he had in his WEC/UFC career?

John Morgan @MMAjunkieJohn

Looks like Saturday's TUF Finale did 1.705 million viewers, making it the most-watched of the three Finales to air on FX.
