True, Elkins is nowhere near Mendes because he's much better.

Mendes will be champ if/when Aldo moves up to LW. The guy got destroyed in one round against Aldo, so it would be hard to market a rematch, thats probably why he hasnt gotten matched up with the top guys in tne division recently (Swanson, Siver, Poirier, Lamas). In fact, im surprised that they are letting him fight ELkins.

Unlikely Mendes will get the belt after Aldo moves up, because when Aldo moves so is Renan.

I don't know if destroyed is the right word. Aldo was winning but it was only the first round and Aldo caught him with a beautifully timed knee. I really don't remember much about the fight except the finish. I think with a few good wins he could get a rematch.

Brutally KO'ed in the first round. It wasn't like he took a vicious beating leading up to that or anything, but its hard to make a case for a rematch after you get put to sleep in less then one round.

Well Big Foot is getting a re-match with the guy that brutalized him, and destroyed would be a good word to use in that case with just two wins. Provided Chad wins this weekend that will be three. One more top contender win and I think a rematch would be in order.

Yaotzin Meza (I have no clue who this guy is and apparently wikipedia doesn't know either)

And now Darren Elkins.

Did I miss something? Did he get in bed with Dana's wife or something?

Just irritates me to see such talent go to waste versus cans.
Not that I agree, but it seems Joe Silva doesn't think he's a big enough draw for the big guys.

Thats at HW, title shots have been given based upon far less. Contrary to what people think, FW is a pretty stacked division and you dont have to give the same guys a bunch on title shots due to a lack of real contenders. There are at least four guys with a legit number one contender claim right now at FW (Lamas, Korean Zombie, Elkins, and Swanson).
