UFC turning into WWE?

Anyone else getting kina annoyed lately with how much "extra" crap is going on before and leading up to fights. it all started with tito vs ken, and the bad blood between them. was great and built up anticipation for the fight as you knew they really didn't like eachother. now dana being the busnies man he is realizes that these side stories build up hype for fights and it is now everywere. seems everytime fight annouced they say "these guys really hate eachother". diego vs kos, serra vs hughes. I love the UFC but don't need all this side crap to get excited about the fights. These guys are supposed to be pros but they bicker back and forth like kids. Take a lesson from some of the veterns like Coutoure, and Mirko. You are here to fight, and act like a professional and role model not a whinny baby. done my rant, any thoughts?

9 out of 10 fights don't make any kind of 'bad blood' claims. As for your examples, the Hughes/Serra conflict was well documented long before there was ever a chance that they were going to fight.

Yep, I have to agree, there isn't all that much hype between most fights. The UFC is just putting alot of new programming out for the simple reason called "exposure", they want MMA to be bigger than boxing.

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Favorite Fighters:

Chuck Liddell
Rich Franklin
Diego Sanchez

Man there are hardly any bad blood matches. We had Ken V Tito for obvious reasons, then there was a lil bicker between GSP V Hughes and then Diego Vs Kos and that was a legite bad blood match. So where are all these bad blood matches???

The Serra V Hughes is also legit if you watched any of the TUF 4 contest.

That happens in boxing as well and it's just a way to attract more people. I personally don't have a problem with it as long as it doesn't interfere with good fighting. Sometimes it even puts a little spice in it, which I like, but it depends on my mood. What really pisses me off is when fighters make this huge scene like Koscheck and Sanchez and then actually look scared of one another. All I care about is good fighting and I'm happy when I see it, no matter of the talksh*t done before it.

There are things the UFC is doing that are somewhat WWE-esque. For one, that stupid ring girl search contest they had last year (a lot like WWE Diva Search). Another is Tito wanting to fight Dana White in a sparring match mainly because Tito didn't like White(reminds me of Steve Austin fighting against Vince McMahon).

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

Yeah the whole Tito/Dana thing is wwe like, but it's all retarded as far as I'm concerned. Nobody seems to care either.
"Bad Blood" is in every sport and most of the time legit. It's also called selling a fight, Tito Ortiz has made a name for himself by doing this. Sure he's a dipshit and 90% of the mma community can't stand him, but he knows how to stir the pot. Some of his fued with Shamrock was fabricated (but Kenny can sell any fight with his shit talking) but there was still legit hate between the two.

some good points and some bad ones as always, appreciate the feed back. always makes me laugh when people through out the 9out10, or 90% of people crap. like they attach a number they randomly pull out head to their argument it is more valid. anyways hope you are all right and just happens that in the last few PPV just happened to be guys who didn't like eachother. don't wanna see UFC rely on this to sell cards as it takes away from the fight itself. when trying to make push into mainstream sporting world, should focus more on sport and less on feeling towards eachother. Understand in combat sport like MMA badblood is bound to happen, but if you are calling yourself professional act like one. ie/ diego pushing kos in weighins

It was random and I'm not using it to make an argument. Last few ppvs guys didn't like each other? Couture/Sylvia? Serra/GSP? Silva/Lutter? GSP/Hughes? When the fight was over these guys were cool with each other. Really any fight with Tito he talks trash, it's called selling fights. When I say most of everybody in mma hates him it's fact same thing goes for a guy like Hughes. If their outside the camp the can't stand the guy.

Mainstream sports have no hate? Ever watch Kings/Laker, Leafs/Senators, Avs/Wings, Red Sox/Yankees? So don't make random comments. All pro sports have their even share of a-holes and class acts (Diego/Randy). It's a fight! If your going to punch someone in the head or try to break their arm or choke them into submission your going to be a little mad. They really can't focus on the sport itself. They have to sell their fighters and market them. People need to know names when watching it, like a Lidell or Rampage. The UFC won't become a fad because of this, mainstream audiences will know fighters.
