I'd pick Diaz to win. Much better striking/cardio. Maia might be able to get him down, but I don't think he could submit him.

Maia would win every round, maybe not sub Nick but for sure a pretty easy UD win.

Maia would take down Diaz and maul him on the ground. He's arguably the better BJJ artist and has absolutely dominated a wrestler like Fitch to the ground.

Maia vs. GSP down the road intrigues me, but for now I'd settle for the winner of McDonald/Ellenberger.

Hopefully Maia would just take one of Diaz's arms home with him.

Bias aside Maia mauls Diaz.
I can think of few people that are worse stylistic matchups for Nick than Maia.

Maia wins on points.

Maia's face is more busted up than Nick's making the victory controversial.

Half claim Maia won, he had position.

The other half claim Diaz won, he did more damage!

Everyone wonders why Joe Silva made a boring fight that wasn't any more exciting to watch than Fitch vs Maia.

3 round fight - Maia wins a fairly boring decision (think Maia vs Kendall Grove).

However if it was a main event on an FX or Fox card and was a 5 round fight, I think Diaz would rally in the late rounds and get a TKO on a gassing Maia. Even GSP struggled to get Diaz down in the late rounds.

GSP only struggled because he was sick. Maia wouldn't be struggling. 3 or 5 round Maia takes this fight casually. I wouldn't be surprised if he subbed Nick.

That is not dead which can eternal lie and withs strange aeons even death may die.

He may not sub him but he would certainly dominate Nick while on the ground. Striking wont be an issue. If Maia comes in like he did against Fitch, Nick would have nothing for him.

Maia subs Diaz with whatever he wants. Maia won't pull a GSP and pass up on every sub opportunity. The second Diaz gives him something, Maia is tearing it off. Maia wins easily.
