UFC Quick Quote: Chael Sonnen 'attacked' by Brazilian fan at TUF 17 Finale
By Thomas Myers on Apr 18 2013, 9:31p @TommyMyers 25

When Chael Sonnen was a little kid, he'd go outside with his friends and talk about the latest in technology, medicine, gaming and American ingenuity, while Anderson Silva and the Brazilian kids sat outside and played in the mud.

Quote:

"[Chael's trash talk] exploded with the Anderson Silva fight, when he started ripping him and Brazil. Last weekend, I don't know if any of you guys saw or heard about this, but he was there, shaking hands with everybody and everything, and this guy says, 'Hey Chael! Chael! C'mon over here.' Chael goes over there and the guy starts swinging on him, tried to punch him. [Security] bundled the guy up and dragged him out and he's saying, '**** you! You are a piece of shit! I'm from Brazil' and all this other stuff. The guy attacked him at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale last Saturday. It was a bad move [for that guy] -- they didn't take him out of there politely. He got bundled and dragged over every stair on the way out [laughs]."

-- Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, during his UFC on Fox 7 pre-event media scrum (watch it here), detailed an ugly off-camera incident at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale, which took place at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, this past Saturday night (April 13, 2013). White revealed that Chael Sonnen, who was on the scene as coach for TUF 17 finalists Kevin Gastelum and Uriah Hall, as well as doing some awkward promotional work to hype his upcoming 205-pound title fight with UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones at UFC 159, was involved in an altercation with an angry Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fan. One who probably didn't care for Sonnen's disparaging comments about his homeland in the build up to his rematch with Anderson Silva at UFC 148, even if "The American Gangster" was trying to build beef and put butts in seats. Indeed, he often crossed the line, especially when he suggested that he'd "pat Silva's wife on the ass and have her make him a steak." Sonnen didn't stop at Silva, targeting Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Wanderlei Silva, among others, which prompted irate responses from both Brazilian legends here and here. In fact, "Big Nog" at one point suggested that Sonnen would never come to Brazil because "the people would kill him in the street." He wasn't lying, considering that Sonnen apparently isn't even safe in "Sin City."

Im so sick of MMA brazillian fans with their entitlements and accepting the fact they attack because they have hurt feelings.

Hey don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch. Brazilian fans are cool, very passionate and one of the biggest supporters of MMA/UFC.

On the other hand in " like water" you can clearly see a bunch of Americans hating on Anderson because he's not American.

Funny thing is i bet the guy knew he was going to be thrown out and thats why he did it. He figured he would get a punch in and then be separated before Chael could murder him.

but they never attacked anderson and said IM AMERICAN DISRESPECTED ME,i would like to give this fan a black eye as well for being such a douche i hope the security roughed him up bad. Also that fight was over a year ago so the timing couldn't have been any worse

it's one dude, there are stupid people everywhere. He probably got hurt much worse than he did to Chael, knowing security guards they jump at the chance to impose their authority to the maximum extent. I'd be surprised if the dude got away without being slammed into something

UFC_OWNS 04-19-2013 03:01 AM

Im aware that there are stupid people everywhere but that doesn't mean it should be excused for any reason, i bet there are fans probably defending the brazillian right now. I would be happy to learn that he did get roughed up for being a fool.

lol yes but you gotta be a fool to hit anderson, anderson would probably knock out a stupid fan before a sucker punch hits. Morale of the story there are stupid fans everywhere, this guy is just one of them. Even athletes themselves are guilty of being idiots sometimes in every sports such as attacking each other. There are always incidents

-Remember the fight in Detroit the Ron artest incident
-Rudy Franedez got attack recently in a european basketball league
- Tie Domi (hockey player) beating up a fan.

Maybe that's because Silva never actually said anything derogatory towards Americans?

If Anderson had said equally offensive stuff about America, I'm 100% sure he would have been attacked at some point.

For example, if I went to Australia and called them all unwashed inbred beach monkey wannabe New Zealanders - Im sure I would get a kick in, even if it is true.
