Sorry to be "that guy" but Jim Miller has always been the prime example of Zuffa hype. i never understood why he was rated so highly despite losing to every top fighter.
His comment about the "WEC guys getting weeded out early" always stuck with me too. never liked the guy despite him being tagged with being humble. add to the fact that after he got a home decision against Bocek and even shook his head when the decision was announced but still never gave any real credit to Mark....you know, like Bendo to Edgar or Frankie to BJ....but of course Miller never got any hate for it....i wonder why....
He is a good fighter and fought well the other night. No one puts him in with the elite guys he isn't overhyped. That was a big win for Healy against a game opponent and it shouldn't be discredited because you have some petty resentment towards Miller.
I don't really get the Miller hype either. There was no reason for Healy to be that big of an underdog going into this fight. Healy is basically a grittier, more athletic version of Bocek and Bocek beat Miller, or at least should have. On paper, Healy had a very good chance of winning this fight.
I get the Miller hype because he is a solid fighter. But as the fight progresses he starts to slow down and that is why he loses usually in closely contested matches. I mean against Joe Lauzon if it went another two rounds, Lauzon although bleeding profusely and completely battered had better cardio.
I didn't really like em before, but he brings it and he has a cool entrance song...haha.
Healy is the LW version of Jon Fitch. Really reminds me of Matt Lindland too.
Miller is an amazing fighter and he is NEVER in boring fights. He always brings it and gets many FOTN honors. In this fight Pat Healy was just hungrier for the win, he also had quite a significant size advantage on Miller.
