He's on track but let's not get ahead of ourselves, for some reason though I see him suffering a ko or injury loss to someone eventually, maybe not this year or next but who knows

Please do enlighten us.

As for this topic, after some research, only one UFC Champ has a victory over another current UFC Champ. I believe that solidifies him as P4P king.

I was more giving it as a response to the "people think Anderson could lose but not Jones" aspect of the thread .

Machida has more of a chance against Jones than Weidman does against Silva imo. Weidman is a good enough wrestler, Anderson's faced better. Weidman is a good enough striker, Anderon's faced better. Weidman has good enough submissions, Anderson's faced better.

Sure, when you put it all together you get a complete fighter, but you don't beat Anderson by being an all rounder. You beat Anderson by being amazing at one thing. Weidman doesn't have the takedowns and control that Chael does, and Anderson was able to control Chael in the second fight. Weidman doesn't have the KO power than Hendo or Belfort do, and Anderson was able to stop both. Weidman doesn't have the submissions that Maia does, and Anderson avoided all positions where that would be relevant. I see very little non fluke ways that Weidman would win, where I could imagine a few scenarios that Machida would have to win a rematch with Jones.

Anderson dominates, and has dominated, his weight class more so than Jones. Someone above mentioned Rampage in Jones' opponents, but discredited some of Andersons. LHW was always where the big names were in UFC. It's shifting now that Jones is dominating, but their names alone got them there. Forrest Griffin isn't a million times better than Chris Leben is. Throw the crippler a grappling class and they about match up. Jones is a beast, but just because his opponents were more popular doesn't mean they were better.

Thanks to Ape for the sig.

"Yes I remember when I saw that man fight....

My story begins in nineteen-dickety-two. We had to say "dickety" because the Kaiser had stolen our word "twenty". I chased that rascal to get it back, but gave up after dickety-six miles. (the children laugh) What are you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem! Now, I'd like to digress from my prepared remarks to discuss how I invented the terlet..."

The p4p king because he beat an inferior opponent that most people knew would offer no challenge? No.

I still think Gustoffson has a solid chance to beat Jones, given the right training and game planning.

Also, if Cormier decides to move down, that's a pretty dangerous match-up.

He's certainly on his way. But the Silva-Jones fight needs to happen to determine who is the best. It's that simple. It seems that whenever Silva fights, people come out and say that he would smash Jones. And whenever Jones fights, people come out and say he'd smash Silva. That's the nature of MMA... people only remember what they've just seen. If Silva comes out and wrecks another wrestler in Weidman, this place will be filled with people talking about how Silva will murder Jones.

Hence why the fight needs to happen. And soon.

I don't think a win over Sonnen really did much for Jones' career in that sense.

Bones is a lot bigger than Andy and GSP and I don't think his skills suggest he is P4P better than either of them because of that. I think basically everyone feels like Andy is the only major threat to Bones outside of HW.

Frankie probably actually belongs at 1 or 2 though but because of how the judges scored his last couple fights people aren't going to argue for that. He rightfully should be the LW champ and I scored the Aldo fight for him and even if you didn't no one else has even been competitive with Aldo.

People can rag and hate on Chael all they like, but if you take away Anderson and Jones, Sonnen is 12-1 since 2006. He's hardly a scrub. And frankly, Jones showed what he's able to do to a world class wrestler who actually tries to bring the fight to him. People who claim this wasn't a good win for Jon are trying to discredit Sonnen more than anything else.

I don't quite see Jones as the P4P king yet (would have to beat Silva) but he's easily right up there in the conversation with all the greats already.
