I was more giving it as a response to the "people think Anderson could lose but not Jones" aspect of the thread
Machida has more of a chance against Jones than Weidman does against Silva imo. Weidman is a good enough wrestler, Anderson's faced better. Weidman is a good enough striker, Anderon's faced better. Weidman has good enough submissions, Anderson's faced better.
Sure, when you put it all together you get a complete fighter, but you don't beat Anderson by being an all rounder. You beat Anderson by being amazing at one thing. Weidman doesn't have the takedowns and control that Chael does, and Anderson was able to control Chael in the second fight. Weidman doesn't have the KO power than Hendo or Belfort do, and Anderson was able to stop both. Weidman doesn't have the submissions that Maia does, and Anderson avoided all positions where that would be relevant. I see very little non fluke ways that Weidman would win, where I could imagine a few scenarios that Machida would have to win a rematch with Jones.
Anderson dominates, and has dominated, his weight class more so than Jones. Someone above mentioned Rampage in Jones' opponents, but discredited some of Andersons. LHW was always where the big names were in UFC. It's shifting now that Jones is dominating, but their names alone got them there. Forrest Griffin isn't a million times better than Chris Leben is. Throw the crippler a grappling class and they about match up. Jones is a beast, but just because his opponents were more popular doesn't mean they were better.
