Interesting. I see Machida getting the UD if he actually utilizes his clinch game. He used it a lot earlier in his career but I guess he fell in love with striking along the way.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

He probably realized beating Thiago Silva and Shogun meant something back in 2009....when he did it. The Viking looking bastard is overrated.

Machida by deadly stuff.....or elusive tactical point fighting.

You say that as if Machida isn't a finisher. The man has some of the most brutal, high light reel, KO's in UFC LHW division history.

I want Gus to win because I want to see Jon fight a fresh new contender instead of someone he's already beaten. Plus I'd like to see Machida drop to 85, as I think he'd be a murderer in that weight class.

As far as who I think will win, it's a toss up, in my eyes. Gus definitely has what it takes to win but Machida is always game. If Gus wins this fight, he most certainly deserves a title shot.

Good, keem them busy.

Gus likely beats Machida. Big range, big power, and he has the movement and technique to keep up with Lyoto. If Gus does get frustrated, he has the chin to wade in guns blazing.

That's a big if IMO, because it's Gus' pace that I think will win him the fight. He won't let Machida get comfortable, and can play Machida at his own game by fighting from the outside.

Great fight, but I think Gus beats Lyoto more soundly than he beat Rua.

Yea he is capable. I have said he is over and over. My problem is, when he doesn't have a weakling to pick on...he takes the ULTRA SAFE ROUTE. He hasn't had a legit stoppage since Rashad at UFC 98. And even then Rashad had way more confidence in his hands than he should have and didn't even attempt to wrestle.

Since May of 2009...now 4 years ago. He has 2 finishes. 1 over a 48 year old man. And one wrestler who was dropped and then sub'd by Tito who hadn't won a fight in 5 years up until that point.

Gustaf doesn't fit the bill of a 48 year old grampa or a wrestler who thinks he can strike. So odds are Machida plays his ULTRA SAFE style.

Make any more sense now?

I don't see Machida taking it for the same reasons you've stated plus Gus has a lot of tools in his toolbox to win this, he certainly isn't going to let Machida prance around the cage.
