So what's the overall take on the 4 major changes?

So in the past two years or so (give or take), there's been four major changes:

1. Merging WEC with UFC/adding the classes below those.
2. UFC purchasing Strikeforce.
3. Deal with Fox.
4. Women's fighting in UFC.

What is your overall take on all these developments now that time has passed?

For me....

1. Merging WEC
Not a fan. I've enjoyed some fights with the lighter classes, but now there are so many divisions and I'm biased towards the heavy guys. Seems like the amount of champions doubled.

2. UFC purchasing Strikeforce.
Also not a fan. Bellator isn't serious competition, I think that's quickly been learned. Strikeforce was an extremely distant #2, but still a legitimate alternative.

3. Deal with Fox.
On the fence. I like the actual fights on Fox for exposure, but all the Fox/FX cards have made pay-per-view cards worse. Not many events anymore have that "big event feel". The last one I think was probably Silva/Sonnen 2.

4. Women's fighting in UFC.
I'm a fan. I was extremely anti-women's fighting in the UFC, but now I am a fan. Their fights have been good and are interesting enough that they absolutely belong. I'd still be in favor of not having a women's fight on every card just to have it, and make it so that it's more of a meaningful attraction.

1.Amazing.
2.They couldn't have ****ed this up worse. What could have been...
3. Record number of viewers, seems like a plus to me.
4. Bout damn time. They have showed out in the UFC. Very deserving.

I approve of all but #1 and #2. I enjoyed the WEC cards just as much, if not more, than the UFC cards. And they should have kept Strikeforce around, if for nothing else than a "development" company.

But then the lower weight guys never would have got the viewers they deserved. I love the WEC merger.

1. Merging WEC with UFC/adding the classes below those.

Against it, of the four weight classes only the 155lbers have really assimilated into the UFC. Cruz and Aldo have both been injury prone and while the talent at 145 is impressive these guys aren't going to non-title main event a PPV. And these guys are taking away main event slots that could be better used building up fighters that will draw money.

2. UFC purchasing Strikeforce.

For it, added some much needed depth to 205 and star power to the UFC. Most of these guys have brought it coming in and the UFC was in desperate need for some new blood.

3. Deal with Fox.

For it, I like the PPV quality cards, hopefully it will move the UFC away from the PPV model. The only issue I have is 30 minutes for one fight, if they can tighten that up they might have a real winner.

4. Women's fighting in UFC.

For it, Women's MMA is fun and exciting and you have serious star power.

1. Merge with WEC
Hate it. These WEC cards were great, especially the last 10 or 15. Lots of action, crazy fights and almost no duds. N0w I'm watching a UFC card and all I hope for is a finish because on average the fights are much slower and uneventful. Not that I'm bored by it but yeah... I miss the WEC.

2. Strikeforce deal
It's great to see these matchups we could only fantasize about so I'm all for it. On the downside there's no competition anymore for ZUFFA.

3. Fox deal
More free cards. What's not to like?

4. WMMA in the UFC
All for it. These girls are fighting with a chip on their shoulder. That's refreshing.

1. Merge with WEC

Good news as more high level fighters have flooded the UFC making for better fights and events to be made.

2. Strikeforce deal

Good and Bad , as now the UFC has the total monopoly and that always has downsides but as i made with point one can have benefits.

3. Fox deal

Good for me in the UK as the TV time is on earlier but other than that no real benefit

4. WMMA in the UFC

No objection to it but honestly couldn't give a rats ass and its far to shallow to be taken too seriously.

1 & 2: meh. Like others said, many of the WEC cards were great on their own. And the now lack of competition for the UFC hasn't made me very happy, either. (not liking some of the cuts & asinine matchmaking that has happened since, for example)

3: Great for exposure/growing the fanbase.

4: lukewarm. The women deserve it, but it's kinda thin right now.

In general I think Dana and Tortilla bros get to much credit. If casino cash had not come along when it did and UFC folded under SEG, I have a hard time believing the pieces would not of been picked up elsewhere and I wouldn't still be enjoying MMA.

1- WEC merger has proven its worth, Bendo, Aldo, Cerrone, on and on have proven they can beat "the best LW's" in the world, causing a few former title-holders to move weight classes (Edgar can't buy a win, judges don't like him)

2-Strikeforce merger again, new blood, great match-ups so far

3-Ufc on fox, awesome exposure..the 2012 PPV's suffered, but that was an injury problem, all cards this year except Sweden have been amazing!

4- Women bring new fans to the sport, its better for everyone, if they have 13 bouts on a card now instead of 11, why not let 1-2 bouts be female
