Yea, him and SHogun gassed the last 2...but he gave Shogun the worst beating he saw through 3 rounds.

People like to rag on Hendo because he isn't versatile
, isn't fast, does one thing. Same reason why people underestimate Roy up until recently. No one cares if they are effective...they care if they have attributes for video games.
No your missing the point completely, people know Hendo is on a major decline because he stopped being versatile, Its frustrating watching the guy try and chase Machida down for the whole fight with no chance of landing that punch because he isn't looking for a opening or creating one he is just throwing it over and over and over hoping the law of averages means it has to land eventually. Dan isn't boring to watch but its frustrating because he is capable of being so much more. Its like Rampage who forgot he was a good boxer and instead threw haymakers at the end of his UFC run.

He hasn't been versatile in a while....yet he was on one of his better runs of his HOF worthy career. So....?

So you are saying if he was still a good wrestler that would have made a difference in the Machida fight? No it wouldn't have. Machida is the worst matchup for him in the division...maybe even worse than Bones. I don't see how 1 fight means he isn't good anymore.

I would still pick him over most of the top 10...at age 42. You are ragging on him for his haymaker style...yet he seems to end a fight with it more than he doesn't these days. Just because he couldn't catch a guy no one can catch doesn't mean much too me.

I'm not missing the point. I'm just not one to think that relying on a weapon that seems to work a lot isn't a bad thing. He has lost once since going back up to 205...and that was vs. a cat like fighter who plays the keep away game. Not too shabby in my eyes.

Fejao is a B- fighter and Babalu isn't even that anymore. He may have only lost once but he hasn't looked good against a single quality opponent. Would wrestling have made a difference in the Machida fight? probably as would have setting up his shot. Machida is good at eluding damage but when he knows EXACTLY what your gonna do you do 90% of the eluding for him.

Why is Feijao a B- fighter? He is just as good as the Bader's of the division. That is your opinion. Babalu is nothing now...I do agree there.

No, wrestling would have done nothing. Machida has a good base and is hard to take down. If you are going to Greco him you have to get close. When Machida is running around and staying 6 feet away...how do you expect wrestling to work? Machida is the most elusive guy at 205...Dan is 42. Speed and strategy was the difference. No wrestling was going to change that.

So Hendo isn't good anymore because he he beat guys like Fedor, Shogun and B- Feijao. But Machida is top 3 because he won a split over Hendo, beat Bader and old man Randy.

Makes sense.

Don't see how Big Nog would be a boring fight. Nog is rarely ever in them. If he does get Dan down, you would have to believe he eventually subs him right? You had Weidman doing so in the first..
Weidman is a much better grappler than Nog has ever been.

Yeah no the beating Jones would have put on Hendo would have been brutal..........which would have been glorious.

Come on now, that's getting a bit silly.

Besides the knockout wins he hasn't really looked great in any. the majority of his decision wins(that I've seen) have been pretty lackluster. best he has ever looked in a decision win was against Shogun.

People like to trash Machida for "running away and not fighting" but Dan has done his fair share of lay and pray and wall n stall.

Thats ass.

Weidman is good and can only get better. And yes he has much better wrestling.

But If Nog wins a dec, you most likely think he gets TDs. He would probably find the sub if he did.

Yes, Weidman is the better all around grappler, he has much better wrestling. But Nog is better at finding subs and more experienced in applying BJJ to MMA. Experience wins out, Chris hasn't sub'd anyone worth a damn in MMA yet.

Who's Big Nog's best sub win? Hendo in 2002?

He was the first top notch BJJ player at HW in MMA, and he's been living off that reputation for years. He's probably not even in the top 25 grapplers in MMA anymore.
