Yeah he's big, young, well rounded, great wrestling... he's had 9 fights. He's going to fight Anderson Silva after a year off with injury. With 9 fights. And he has the best chance of any UFC challenger to date? Please.
Yes he is, how many of those 9 fights has he lost? oh that's right 0. I dare you to tell me who's been a better challenger to date besides chael who mirrors weidman's gameplan anyways

I think Chael, Hendo, and Belfort were Anderson's biggest challenges. All of them came to fight. All of them can win, it's just a really, really small chance.

Hendo perhaps but his wrestling isn't that good so meh for that, chael I already explained for, belfort you must be kidding that man is a glorified bum if I have ever seen one, franklin was more of a threat than belfort. Also usually it's seasoned veterans or journeymen who take on silva so I don't know why you would say another up and comer for silva to fight this would be the first since I guess leben.

Whatever Weidmans chances. Whatever he thinks about his skillset vs Silvas. He may well be the worse type of match-up for Silva.

Either way, Silva is a nightmare matchup for him and everybody else at MW. He had better recognize.

As a huge Anderson fan, this fight's got me a little worried.

Sure Weidman had the layoff and hasn't got the years under his belt but he's young, he's hungry and has a style that, on paper at least, should give Silva some problems.

I'm not saying Weidman will win but Anderson isn't getting any younger and Chris just seems to have the right mentality going into this fight.

I think Silva takes it, all it takes is one mistake/opening for him to capitilize but I wouldn't be suprised to see Weidman grind out a win, I wouldn't even be suprised if Weidman got the finish.

Chris seems to need to mix it up on the feet a bit before getting hands on people to maul them. I don't see him doing that at all vs AS though since AS isn't going to let him close the distance.
Chris will need to be very aggressive early and avoid big punishment to have a chance, hard to see it happening though.
I think Silva will avoid/stuff a few TDs then put him out in the 1st or 2nd round when Chris is desperate and telegraphing his shots.
Would have loved for Chris to get a few more fights because he is awesome and gets props for manning up and going for the big dog.

Because he's getting older and no matter who you are age beats everyone. Silva will be no different, when his speed goes he will go.

Weidman is bigger, stronger and more well versed in BJJ than Sonnen. If Weidman is aggressive than what is stopping him? His performance against Maia is the key, the fight sucked yes but on 11 days he cut a tremendous amount of weight and pushed through.

That's the sign of a man who wants it and is willing to dig deep to get it. No one can hang with Anderson standing up but if this thing hits the mat he's gonna be in trouble. Weidman will hunt for the finish too, that may ultimately lead to his downfall because Anderson only needs one but Weidman is a serious threat.
