Anyone think Anderson can......

Seriously beat jones?

I know AS has his matrix shit up his sleeve, but sonnen blasted through that, and Jones blasted through sonnen's forward style.

The more I think about it, I think the kid's just too smart, too strong, too good.

(Please withhold rib injury arguments, not listening)

Sonnen caught Anderson by surprise. He really hadn't shown an 'in your face' style prior to that fight. He has always been one to stand outside and then go in for the TD. Jones was aware of it and prepared for it.

I would just say this isn't an apples to apples comparison.

Fair enuff, but taking into account the fact that AS gets into fighters heads, which I doubt will happen in this bout. Would you lean heavily in Jones' favour?
(Point is mute if Weidman has his way)

Did you watch Silva vs Sonnen 2?

How about the fact that Silva made much easier work of both Bonnar and Belfort?

Silva is a horrible match up for Jones. He is better in every regard except takedowns and ground and pound. He also has a good guard and has shown improved takedown defense lately.

Bonnar was a whiles ago now, and I'll admit it is cool when you jag a front kick to the face, it saves a lot of work.

if you can jag a front kick to the face why doesnt anybody else do it

anderson will get a few chances to engage with jones. he has a very good chance of catching him - machida fight showed jones cant dominate that level of a striker on the feet

he has a good chance of finishing jones. if and when jones takes him down i think silva has enough bjj to stay out of trouble and a small chance of a submission

if jones continues to whether the storm he will use his reach and takedowns to earn a decision

my opinion. silva has a 30-40% chance of winning with a finish. jones has a 40-50% chance of a decision and a small chance of stopping silva

as much as i like silva your all forgetting how huge jones is and how perfect his frame is for MMA, not only will he have a reach advantage he is also super strong so if he did take it the ground we will see a phil davis style of strength+ some technique > good technique.

i also believe jones has pretty good BJJ, he would have to with his current level of coaching and training he recieves.

as much as i like silva id have to give it to jones, hes just too good and athletic. that being said i still think silva is more technical in the stand up at least.

At the end of the day size doesnt matter the better fighter always wins. I believe Anderson is the better fighter. As good as Jones is he has never faced anyone comparable to Anderson. Same case can be made for Anderson with Jones as his opponent. Experience, will power to win, and skills will determine this fight. As good as Jon Jones it he is still relatively young at this point I still give Silva the edge.

Silva has remained undefeated and has looked impressive doing so. Jon Jones's body of work is impressive also, but I think Silva would finish Rampage,Shogun,Machida,Evans faster and more spectacular.

Jones is 2 inches taller and walks around only slightly heavier then Silva(Jones has claimed himself to walk around at 225 and Silva is around 220). Yes Jones has a 6 inch reach advantage but that is useless since Silva is such a superior striker(what use did Jones' reach advantage provide him against Machida for example?).

Jones is dangerous to anyone primarily due to his wrestling and nasty ground and pound. That is his bread and butter and his only chance of beating Silva imo. An interesting aspect to this matchup is that Jones has never fought a ground fighter with the BJJ/defense that Silva has. Belfort nearly finished Jones with a submission so Silva definitely has a chance even if he is stuck fighting Jones off his back.
