If you think about it ... they make like 1mil 1.5 mil / gate
and 550k ppv... they pay like 1 mil, 1.5 mil to fighters , staff...
Thats all they make ? like 500k / event ?

550,000*$45=$24.75 million and that is if nobody buys the HD version.

$24.75 million + $2.7 million gate - $1.59 million in reported fighter pay and bonuses = $25.86 million

$25.86 million + $???????? in sold advertising spaces to fighters and event sponsors = the money Zuffa has to work with to advertise the event, pay for the facility, their staff and undisclosed bonuses.

I'd guess they made close to $20 million on UFC 159.

The UFC doesn't get to keep $45 per ppv buy.

In Demand deals are typically 50/40/10 splits. 50% goes directly to the cable companies, who actually own In Demand. 10% goes to In Demand and 40% goes to the event producer.
If they only get 40%, that's $9.9M. If half the people bought HD and half standard (no idea what the split is) it's $11M. If they get 50% (the article I posted was in response to an industry story that they renegotiated their PPV deals, but as the article shows, that may be overstated) it's $13.75M. Any of those three figures is still a lot of money, but not as insane as $24.75M.

Well that is a 5-year old article, so I don't know what it would be like today, but I would just put the medium supplier rake in the costs department. But you're right, still a pretty penny.

When you think about the fact that it was a fight everyone knew the end result to.... it did pretty well.

Haven't ordered a ppv since Cain v Mir but I always bought ppv.

I have bought every PPV since UFC 80 something. All of them except for 1, UFC 103. Because I was there in person. But it's been a long, long time since I have missed an event. I damn sure didn't but this one for the main event. But I'll be damned if it's going to prevent me from seeing some fights.

Seems like the PPV model is getting lower every year. Not even Chael can get it over the 600,000 units mark. Still though decent enough cash
