Those who have adopted an MMA mentality to their BJJ are still successful. The guys who will just dive after a limb and don't let up until the it's broken or the ref steps in. I'm thinking of fighters like Mir, Palhares, Maia, etc.

BJJ is not dead. But it is definitely becoming one of the more difficult dimensions to execute, seeing that the level of Submission defence in the UFC has sky rocketed over the past few years. Nowadays, if you want to continueusly submit your opponents, you better be a Demian Maia, or a Vinny Magalčas.

Thing is a guy like Maia is a beast in BJJ. But of his last 7 WINS he has landed 1 submission victory.

Maia put on a grappling clinic against Fitch, though. Maia has been able to use his bjj a lot more effectively since he came down to WW it seems.

As pretty much everyone else has already stated BJJ is far from dead.

The big difference is that more then a handful of guys know what BJJ is and are well versed in it. When you know at least the basics you can avoid most submissions especially in MMA where you can defend yourself with strikes.

BJJ is so dead, Phil Davis, one of the best wrestlers around, chose to take his chances and use his striking, known as one of the worst in the planet, instead of trying to outgrapple Vinny Magalhćes. Smart move from his part, but also proves how "dead" BJJ is in the eyes of a condecorated wrestler, not a fan.

Doesn't matter. All of his wins came via his BJJ. Whether its a sub, or 3 rounds of grapplef*ucking, its still his excellent BJJ at work.

Has anyone else noticed the way the relevancy of bjj has dropped huge in UFC?
you're just blind as **** if you think so. Just because every fight doesn't end in an armbar it doesn't mean that BJJ is any less important than before. In fact, I'd argue that it's more important.

I have noticed that your threads are pretty much shitstorms waiting to happen though.

Fedor, Mir, Lytle, Serra, Hendo, Chuck, Minowaman, Maynard, Forrest, Hunt
Pickett, Cerrone, Matt Brown, Bisping, Weidman, Barnett, Lawler
