Is bjj dead?

Has anyone else noticed the way the relevancy of bjj has dropped huge in UFC?

Wrestling and striking have completely taken its place, anytime there is some great bjj guy in a fight its pretty much a guarenteed ko, this is wild considering how dominant it used to be,

But wrestling strikers are definately the future in UFC

No almost every top level fighter is schooled extensively on some sort of submission grappling.

I think its effectiveness is dying. Although Im only saying that because GSP makes Ju Jitsu look like some kind of kids technique that can be out manouvered with a hop skip and a jump.

It's just the overall level of BJJ and MMA in general rising. If everyone knows subs and escapes better than they did 3 years ago then there will be less submissions or even close submissions.

Maia says no.

seriously though its still very relevant its just used for defense more than offense now. for example when gsp is on top wrestling he isnusing his bjj knowledge to know where to put his hands so he doesnt set himself up for a sub.

Quite the opposite. BJJ is more important than ever because everyone knows submissions and if you don't know how to defend you can't win.

The UFC rules favor wrestlers in many ways, that is a fact. BJJ is not as enjoyable as it could be in MMA anymore. The easiest way to change this back a little is taking away elbows to a ground opponent. Many wrestlers thrive on stalling and the rules are so bias towards them that they allow them to dryhump opponent and throw these week elbows without posturing up. These elbows do not hurt, in a sense that they are likely to cause a KO but they can cut an opponent and cause a lot of bleeding. Many of these boring wrestlefeckers would get caught if they would need to posture up to start their g&p.

Exactly. BJJ might not be as apparent as it was, but it is essential. If you are not skilled in BJJ you are getting subbed by just about anybody in the UFC. It's that simple.

it's completely dead... just like Dave Herman said before his fight with Big Nog "I'm not afraid of his jujitsu because jujitsu doesn't work."

.... and Herman dominated that fight by get trapped with an armbar and tapping out.

I agree with this. Elbows sort of ruin the beauty of the ground game.

BJJ isn't dead. Thing is everyone knows BJJ now a days. It is getting much harder to find the subs. But BJJ as a whole is still alive in defense and positioning.
