UFC confident Mark Hunt gets visa for UFC 160, but Roy Nelson on deck just in case

Visa issues caused by a 2002 arrest continue to trouble Mark Hunt, preventing him from traveling to the US for his big fight at UFC 160. He and the UFC remain confident that Hunt will be able to finally catch his flight, but they've got Big Country on deck just in case.

Last week MMA fans found out that UFC Heavyweight Mark Hunt was having trouble traveling to the U.S. due to issues obtaining a work visa. A 2002 arrest seems to be what's giving Hunt difficulties in making it to Las Vegas to fight Junior dos Santos. Hunt has remained confident that he'll eventually be able to board his flight, but as of Tuesday he's still in New Zealand.

On today's episode of UFC Tonight, Ariel Helwani confirmed that Hunt still has not been able to get a flight to the States, but the UFC is not too worried about the fight being cancelled. However, they are making sure they're prepared. Helwani reported that UFC brass has reached out to Roy Nelson to step up in the event that Hunt is unable to travel. Nelson is scheduled to apply for a fighter's license at an upcoming NSAC meeting to ensure he'll be ready if Mark's issues aren't resolved.

Roy Nelson is coming off an impressive first round KO of Cheick Kongo at UFC 159. After only two minutes in the cage, Nelson landed his infamous overhand right on Kongo to get the stoppage. Nelson has faced dos Santos once in the past at UFC 117. The fight went to a decision after 15 minutes and an incredibly one-sided bludgeoning saw JDS get the win.

UFC 160 is set to go down in only 10 days on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. In the main event, Heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez will look to earn his first successful title defense against Antonio Silva.

I'd be okay with watching Roy get beat like a government mule again.

Not me. JDS vs Cain and Bigfoot vs Roy would actually improve the card.

I'm with you. I have no interest in watching Cain beat the living crap out of Bigfoot again.

At least Nelson has actually improved his striking in the last year.

Bigfoot is just a Big slow power puncher with a decent ground game.

Yeah I just don't have any interest in both the main event and co-main event featuring rematches where the first fight was domination.

I have to stick to my word and UFC have to stick with theirs. I want JDS to fight only once before another fight against Cain, but if he was moved to the title shot now, that would represent an instant rematch, which would be unfair to Cain, and Bigfoot.

JDS vs Nelson, thanks, but no, thanks.

I don't mind Roy fighting JDS again. He lasted every round and damaged JDS more than most.

But I would much rather see Hunt in there right now.

Junior just got his ass whipped like a redheaded stepchild by Cain. An immediate rematch would be one of the most absurd things ever done in the UFC.

Roy vs. JDS would be yet another beatdown but I'd watch it.
