Karo close to #1 contender if he beats Burkman?

I think its about time the HEAT gets the respect and title shot he deserves....His last LEGIT loss was in 04 against GSP and I dont count his decision loss against Diego because quite frankly I dont think he lost that fight. In any case, by beating Josh Burkman (19-3 mma, 4-1 ufc), would this put him right up there into contention for the title? I personally think it should. Not to mention his wins include a victory over the current WW champion Matt Serra, Nick Diaz and Chris Lytle....all great competitors.....thoughts?

you don't think he lost the diego fight? lol...

in the last 2 minutes of the fight he was totally outclassed by diego...and honestly, I gained ALOT of respect for diego during that fight

If he was to win this fight, it would put him in contention, but not #1 contender ...NOOO

way too many guys above him, gsp, koscheck, hughes

I think Karo should fight Koschek next for a shot at the title. Winner to face winner of Matt Hughes vs. Matt Sierra for the title.

I would love to see Karo as WW champ one day. His last 5/6 fight wins were against Diaz, Lytle, Serra, Thompson, and Ficket with one loss to Sanchez. If he beats Burkman I think he should be able to fight the number 1 contender, ya never know we may see Sanchez/Karo 2, GSP/Karo 2 Kos/Karo, Hughes/Karo... Karo's name in the mix makes any fight look good. Kos/Karo has a nice ring to it eh?

I didnt realize eating some shots for 2 minutes means you lose the fight totally. Especially in a 10-9 scoring system.

I think he is on the road to a comeback which is great news for fans of the Heat. I think if he wins then he should fight Diego again, first it would be an exciting fight as we know Karo brings out the best in Diego, vice versa and Karo wants to avenge the loss. I feel if he wins that fight then he is firmly back on track to a title shot maybe going after the winner of Serra/Hughes or Kos as a final test before the title shot. I am so looking forward to UFC 71. Its gonna be the night of fire and ice.

A win would put Karo higher up the pecking order but title matches in the future are looking like serra/hughes and then GSP against the winner of that fight.

If Serra beats hughes and then GSP beats serra you would be looking at hughes/GSP 2. He won't be looking at a title fight until, at the very earliest, the end of the year.
