Would be super cool Anderson vs heavyweights and such but it will never happen. The days of open weight are over unfortunately. It would be like taking many steps back.

Really the only time open weights would even matter is to settle grudges between fighters from different weight classes.

Anyone doing half decent in their own division, isn't going to want to step out of it to fight smaller or considerably larger dudes.

It also runs a risk of discrediting some of your weight classes. If your number 5 WW beats your number 2 LHW... that doesn't speak very well of the LHW division.

Open weight Grand Prix's would be better then a traveling open weight trinket.

once a year type of thing, but it would have to still be segregated by weight.

<145 GP
146 to 185 GP
>186 GP

That I'd like.

Honestly, who at WW or below would fight Cain, Junior, Mir, Cormier(sp)?

A Diaz
Donald Cerrone (sp)
BJ Penn

Who else?

What I'm really hoping for is tag team bouts.

I actually think this would be a cool idea, it would be a good way to hold super fights. The problem I see is that it would be almost certainly held by a HW. I liked the way Pride did it, which was to have under 200lbs and over 200lbs Grand Prix.

This might show us how big - or little - weight disparity really means.

Fight fans tend to say 10-20lbs makes a huge difference and that, WWs are so much smaller than MWs for example, but ignore how many MWs have easily cut to WW or vice versa.

I'm almost certain Julian Lane would be the undisputed champion.

I'll bet real money on it.
