Two fighters have a chance at breaking MMA's winless streak in the major ESPY Awards. Jon Jones and Anderson Silva have been nominated for "Best Fighter" for the ESPN sports awards, marking each fighters' third nominations. They are nominated along with Canelo Alvarez, Danny Garcia and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
As yet, the only MMA fighter to win an ESPY was congenital amputee Kyle Maynard, who won the "Best Male Athlete with a Disability" award in 2012. The awards honor the best achievements, moments and leading athletes of the previous year. Fan voting is open now at the official website and the ceremony takes place on July 17th.
It will go to a boxer who fought once this year....again...
