Jon Jones, Anderson Silva Nominated for ESPY Awards

Quote:
MMA fighters to try for their first win again...

Two fighters have a chance at breaking MMA's winless streak in the major ESPY Awards. Jon Jones and Anderson Silva have been nominated for "Best Fighter" for the ESPN sports awards, marking each fighters' third nominations. They are nominated along with Canelo Alvarez, Danny Garcia and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

As yet, the only MMA fighter to win an ESPY was congenital amputee Kyle Maynard, who won the "Best Male Athlete with a Disability" award in 2012. The awards honor the best achievements, moments and leading athletes of the previous year. Fan voting is open now at the official website and the ceremony takes place on July 17th.
The other three nominees are Floyd Mayweather Jr, Danny Garcia, and Canelo Alvarez.

Lets try that again, and we'll put a poll up

Hard to argue that Silva or Jones deserve it. Anderson hasn't even fought this year yet and Jones beat a guy from a weight class below that he had no business fighting in the first place.

EDIT: Assuming these are based on the year thus far. If we're taking the last half of 2012 into account, Anderson could be considered. Still not Jones though.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

They are based on whatever happened after voting started for last years ESPYS I believe.

If you go to vote for Anderson it says that he recently defeated Bonnar in a title fight.

Most of the names on that list aren't even fighters. They're boxers.

HW: JDS
LHW: Rua, Gustafsson
MW: Sonnen
