Nick Ring out, Josh Samman meets Uriah Hall at UFC on FOX Sports 1 1

Nick Ring (13-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has been forced out of the UFC's return to Boston in August, and Josh Samman (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has stepped in to meet Uriah Hall (7-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the card.

Sources with knowledge of the lineup change confirmed the news to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), and UFC officials are expected to make the booking official for UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 soon.

UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 takes place Aug. 17 at TD Garden in Boston. The show will be the UFC's debut on the new FOX Sports 1 cable network, which launches the same day.

Samman and Hall were castmates on Season 17 of "The Ultimate Fighter" this past spring. And while each made it to the semifinals and were expected to meet at the TUF 17 Finale, only Hall reached the the finals.

Despite being upset in the semifinals by eventual winner Kelvin Gastelum, Samman was given a fight on the TUF 17 Finale and stopped Kevin Casey with a second-round TKO for a win in his official UFC debut. That ran the Florida-based 25-year-old's streak to two, with seven wins in his past eight official fights – with just a Bellator loss to Dan Cramer keeping him from perfection over that stretch. Nine of his 10 wins have come by stoppage.

Hall was a heavy favorite on "TUF 17," but in the tournament finals against Gastelum, he appeared off his game compared to some of the destructive finishes he had in the "TUF" house and Gastelum won a split decision. The former Ring of Combat fighter will be looking for his first official UFC victory.

Ring, who fought on "TUF 11," was looking to get back in the win column after a March split-decision loss to Chris Camozzi at UFC 158 in Montreal. That was his second setback in three fights.

With the change to the lineup, the latest UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 card now includes: MAIN CARD (FOX Sports 1, 8 p.m. ET)
Mauricio Rua vs. Chael Sonnen

Travis Browne vs. Alistair Overeem

Yuri Alcantara vs. Urijah Faber

Thiago Alves vs. Matt Brown
Uriah Hall vs. Josh Samman*
Michael "The Menace" Johnson vs. Joe Lauzon
PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 1, 6 p.m. ET)
Michael McDonald vs. Brad Pickett

Conor McGregor vs. Andy Ogle
Mike Brown vs. Akira Corassani
Diego Brandao vs. Daniel Pineda
PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook, 4:30 p.m. ET)
Manny Gamburyan vs. Cole Miller
Cody Donovan vs. Ovince St. Preux
Ramsey Nijem vs. James Vick

Better fight than before if you ask me.
Also Siler will replace Akira

I know most people wanted to see that one on the Tuf show but it never came to be, but I'd rather see McDonald vs Pickett on the main card than that one... in my opinion anyway. At least it's got the televised prelims on the same channel as the main card so it will all just blend together to me except for those facebook guys.

Samman tried his damnedest to avoid this match-up in the house, always opting for the perceived easy route.
I can see Samman winning this. Urijah was kind of too nonchalant in that finale fight. Hope he wins though.

What is the point of this match? Seriously what a waste of time for Hall.

Samman won by finish in his only official fight in the UFC. Hall lost his.

Not sure how this is a waste for Hall? This won't be an easy fight for him.

I liked the Ring fight a bit more, only because I was looking forward to Hall going all human highlight reel on Nick. Josh has more speed and better cardio than Ring, so it might be a slightly more challenging fight. But let's not kid ourselves... if Hall doesn't care to risk exchanging, he'll be able to take Josh down at will and control the fight. Josh has zero TDD and really isn't that good from bottom, and Hall has a half-decent top game.

He lost focus against Kelvin, and it cost him. I can't see it happening a second time. Fun fight for the fans though.
