Chris Weidman calls Anderson Silva a disrespectful piece of ****

Quote:
I’m still having a very difficult time formulating what happened last night. Absolute props to Chris Weidman — he did it — but Anderson also beat himself by playing the game far, far too much, and it cost him his title, and ever so slightly, his legacy. Now Weidman is the champ, Anderson said he doesn’t want to fight for the belt anymore, and there is a rematch clause still on the table that no one knows if Anderson will accept it.

I will tell you what, though. A rematch would be bigger than the Chael fight, and I hope it happens. Because this video showing Chris Weidman calling Anderson a “disrespectful piece of ****” can’t make Anderson happy.

C’mon, rematch.

So was Anderson disrespectful? Is what Weidman said disrespectful? Pot, meet kettle? This is what Dana White said at the post fight scrum. What do you think?

“Fans came here to see a fight,” said White. “They saw a pretty good fight tonight. Is it disrespectful? I don’t know.

“It’s fighting. How the hell do you disrespect somebody in a fight?

“I’m going to try to punch you in the face and knock you out. I’m going to try to kick your leg off. And if I grab your arm, I’m going to take that off. And I’m going to strangle you if I get your neck. But I don’t want to disrespect you??!?

“I think what Weidman did to him is pretty damn disrespectful too.”

Anderson Silva is a disrespectful guy, I don't know why he's been canonized. It's this whole culture of wanting to have a beer and be besties with your favorite fighter. I sure didn't forget what he did to Maia did you?

More information has surfaced regarding the conversation middleweight king Anderson Silva held with Demian Maia during the main event at “UFC 112: Invincible.”

Several Portuguese fans were able to make out what Silva was angrily shouting to his challenger in the opening rounds in Abu Dhabi, and it ain’t pretty.

At some point in the 2ndRound, the champ said, “Bate na minha cara playboy,” which in English equates to “Come on, hit me in the face playboy.”

While it doesn’t sound worse than anything UFC president Dana White would say in a nationally televised interview, the remark carries discriminating connotations when said in Portuguese.

Here’s how FightersOnly explained what the phrase means to the people of Brazil:

The stark class and economic divides in Brazil make for a wide gulf in status between the rich and poor. In Brazilian terms, a playboy is a hedonist rich kid, the product of a pampered upbringing who cares little for the poor and knows nothing of real life.

Silva also yelled “Cade o jiu jitsu?” to Maia, which literally would translate to “Where is your jiu jitsu?”

Then, when Maia would shoot for a failed takedown attempt or try to pull guard, Silva told Maia to, “Get up off your ass and get hit some more.”

When asked why the fight had transpired the way that it did, Silva told reporters, “I came here well-trained, but Demian disrespected me.

“I’m a black belt, and I’ve never stepped into the ring and disrespected anyone verbally before the fight and said things that he said.”

“The Spider” may have successfully defended his title en route to capturing his 11th straight Octagon affair, but it appears he’s lost the respect of his fans and much of the MMA community.
Look people want to love Anderson and that's cool, but he kissed Weidman, struck Chael at the weigh ins, tried to beat up Okami after he lost to him and did something to Vitor. I think people need to look at the man for who he is not for who they wish he were.

He isn't wrong, but why did he change his tune during the post fight conference along with Dana White? Anderson does that to everybody gets heat for it, last night it finally caught up to him.

Heat of the moment vs press conference is not a fair comparison. I would have said the same thing as Weidman after being taunted for 5 minutes and finally cracking him one.

It's too bad Weidman didn't say that earlier about him and his family.

I remember Anderson saying that Weidman "just got here" so he may not have taken him as seriously as he should have. For a champion to stay around this long he always takes his fight seriously. Weidman threw an unorthodox combination that reminded of a time I sparred with a Heavy weight. I slipped all his punches and then I remember he threw a right then he did the same exact thing Weidman did in throwing a wonky back hand shot that clipped me in the head. It wasn't strong at all, but it caught me off guard and I was laughing cuz I knew it was kind of an instinctual. For Weidman he followed up with a left hook at the right time and angle. Usually Anderson would have countered by then, moved completely away, or just roll with the shot.

Honestly though I see a Matt Serra moment. NOW...Weidman will have many many fighters gunning for em. Be careful what you wish for...

I always felt Vitor was the #2 so I do feel he will fullfill his own dream now of being a multi-divisional champ.

Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

How is the relationship between Anderson and Demian any of your business?

The Okami thing is just delusional. Yeah he would totally purposefully get himself DQed in a fight he was winning. His actions were completely consistent with his explanation for them but he is a liar based on nothing.

It isn't that Anderson doesn't do "disrespectful" or douchebag things it is that it doesn't matter. Acting like an ass occasionally doesn't make you some evil person; we don't even know these guys on a personal level and the people that do seem to have a pretty high opinion of him.

The bottom line is these are people who entertain us there is no difference between an athlete and a clown to the consumer without some delusional and unrealistic moral standard being applied.

I don't like that he does that stuff because I want to have a beer with him I like it because he is an entertainer and it makes my viewing experience more enjoyable.

Edit: What Dana said is pretty much correct and all of you whining about respect sound ridiculous. You are a good guy for using physical violence on another human being but BOO HOO HE HURT MY FEELINGS I HATE HIM!! /weidman runs under his mothers dress and cries with snot dripping out of his nose.

I always said if you think the other guy is doing something disrespectful then its your job to do something about it... not bitching after the fight. Weidman did something...
