Weidman VS Belfort

Silva had his amazing reign but I'm excited for new blood in the division.

I HOPE this fight is next because I'm PSYCHED to see it.

Vitor has been on a TEAR lately, and I think with this fight we'll be able to actually see how good Weidman is.

As a big Anderson fan, I don't know how I feel about the weekend loss. Anderson did seem tired of his own success, but Weidman fought like a beast. I guess I'm not sure if Weidman is the real deal or not.

Anyways, I'm super stoked to see this fight. It's nice being excited to watch MW fights again.

I think Vitor might take it. He's just so aggressive and brutal with his power. Although Weidmans strength and length might make it hard for Vitor to get in.

What do you think?

I think Vitor finishes him in the 1st or 2nd and people forget he ever beat Silva. It'd be wise for Weidman to rematch Silva, he has a much better shot at him if he can pull his GSP strategy again, that **** wont fly with Vitor though.

Vitor gets taken down and worn down by weidman until he breaks, as was always his stylistic weakness against top wrestlers. Right from Couture to Ortiz.

More than likely though there will be controversy about this fight even taking place. Belfort has been using TRT illegally (as if it should ever be legal anyway) and the NSAC won't put up with it. Weidman may or may not consent to fight in Brazil with a roided up opponent. He has to accept all legit challengers but the choice of venue must be agreed upon with him.

Depends on the location. If it's in the states, without question, Weidman wins the fight. If it's in Brazil...

So has Anderson in the past but it didn't mean he was unable to stuff some of Weidman's shots..

I would like to see this fight, I think Vitor would murder Weidman and KO him comfortably. Weidman might get a couple takedowns but it won't make a difference in the fight.

People seem to think stuffing one or two telegraphed takedowns is a medal worthy achievment.

Anderson still spent a third of that fight on his back getting gnped and then got kod on the feet. Part of the reason for that was the constant threat of the takedown. If Weidman decided to mix.another takedown during the exchanges he clearly showed the speed to land them when they were not completely telegraphed.un set up shots. The reason he didn't was probably because he saw an opportunity on the feet with the taunts

I'm not naive enough to think Weidman beats anderson in a pure striking match, but the takedown threat changes everything. It is the same reason Alves shut down against GSP.

Even if Vitor stuffs.one or two takedowns 1) There will be more after it and he will probably succumb or get sapped as he always does. Like jones did recently but really every wrestler he faces. 2) His striking will.be hampered a lot once he has spent a round on his back eating fists.

His best bet is an early blitz KO or a sneaky sub off the back. The longer the fight goes, the more likely he gets broken.

I actually think that may be why the UFC will be very hesitant to give Vitor a fight. Since his TRT issues and the Nevada Athletic commission saying he wouldn't get an exemption for it, if Vitor won all of his title defenses would have to be outside the US.

In the fight itself, I dunno. For me the problem Weidman will face is that Vitor's hands are still as fast as they always were. Weidman would need to get the fight to the ground early and often and really get in Vitors head. Otherwise if Vitor blitz's I don't think any UFC MW could take that. I would currently say it would be about a 50/50. Vitor really does appear to have worked out a lot of his early fight jitters that caused him so many problems for so many years. He walks into the cage ready to fight rather than waiting to see what will happen.

But Weidman has made a career so far of showing everyone that he doesn't give a sh*t what you think, he is going to win.
