Cormier wants immediate LHW title shot if he beats Nelson.

Daniel Cormier wants immediate light heavyweight title shot following Roy Nelson fight

Daniel Cormier's last fight as a heavyweight will be against Roy Nelson at UFC 166.

"DC" confirmed his plans to move down to light heavyweight following the bout to FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight" on Tuesday.

And not only is Cormier planning a move to light heavyweight, he wants an immediate 205-pound title shot, if he beats Nelson.

Cormier said that after the fight he will publicly ask the UFC in the cage to "cut the line" and fight the winner of Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson next. Cormier is now confident he can easily make the weight cut.

UFC 166, headlined by Cormier's teammate Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos 3 for the UFC heavyweight title, takes place Oct. 19 in Houston.

Would love to see this match but Tex should get his shot first.

I don't see how beating Roy Nelson coming off a loss, in a weight division higher, grants you an immediate title shot... but wouldn't surprise me much.

How exactly does beating Roy Nelson earn someone a LHW title shot? I'd say it might possibly be worse than losing to Anderson Silva, then getting a LHW shot. Nelson has just been dominated by Stipe Miocic, and Cormier expects to beat him and get an immediate shot at Jones. Yeah, sure, move down to 205, beat the winner of Teixeira vs Bader, then get a shot, but move down and get an immediate title shot? I can't say I really agree with that.

Tex needs to beat Bader still. Assuming he does then hell yes he should get the shot ahead of Cormier.

DC should fight a top 10 LHW first

No, just no. Seriously, show us that he can even make the cut, live, and then perform at LHW before asking for a title shot. Very few people can drop weight and keep their abilities, and while it doesn't seem like DC would be cutting a lot of weight, it isn't something he has done for a long time. I have a feeling that even if he makes the weight cut without nearly dying he would probably lose some of his power, gain a little speed, but lose his entire gas tank, and it isn't that impressive as it is.

I would rather the LHW champion defend his belt against people in his weight class, not people going up or dropping down for a title shot. It is an insult to everyone who fights at LHW.

And this is why people are all over him about not dropping. He constantly talks about it.

Dolce will have him in good shape but no, this does not warrant a title shot at Bones...

DC V Lil Nog would be nice

We'll see how Cormier does against Nelson first before we start talking about titleshots. But I'm sure more of a case can be made for Tex, since he's already fought in the division.
