On the other hand, that's what was said about Matt Serra, and look what happened there.

If we look at skill sets and technique then yeah, it should be just another routine title defence for GSP. Matt Brown can give him trouble on the feet since he's damn good at turning fights into slugfests where he can make openings for landing bombs. GSP on the other hand can just go to work with his wrestling & top control if he feels threatened in the standup.

But then we go back to the intangibles. Matt Brown. GSP always loses his 1st fight to guys named Matt.

That is the most illogical, but logical point. I actually think Matt Brown or any heavy hitting slugger has a chance. He also has major reach.

Lots of finishes tonight!

Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

This was a crappy match up in my opinion ... it was clear that it would end this way...
I dont think he earn a title shot yet he needs first to beat one in the top like Condit or the Diaz...

Will always love Brown. The UFC will never cut him so long as he fights like he does. The man has absolutely no fear of losing, getting hurt or knocked out. That one feature is my favourite in a fighter. Matt Brown rocks.

As for this fight. Not many WWs exist that can do that to Mike Pyle. Impressive.

The Serra fight was a fluke. I think Brown is a scrappy fighter but I think the difference in athleticism is huge between the two.

It's funny how not that long ago, Brown was on a 3 fight losing streak against average at best competition, but now he's on a 6 fight winning streak and some people are talking about him potentially getting a title shot soon. I don't know, it's hard to forget about the past, but it was 3ish years ago so it's not out of the question that he's fixed most of the holes in his game. Let's see him against a top 5 first though. Huge difference between who he has beat and St. Pierre after all.

Psalm 30:5 "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

Top 3 Favorite Fighters
1. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell
2. Glover Teixeira
3. Demian Maia

But even back then he was a fan favourite. Cool as f*ck on TUF 7 and that fight against Pete Sell was something else; one of the nastiest beat down of all time.

Brown deserves a big fight.

Either give him the winner of Condit/Kampmann or Maia/Shields.

I want him to get a big one as well. He has quietly been tearing his way to the top. I really want to see him get the winner of Condit/Kampmann.
