Instead of finding a replacement for Kenny Florian at UFC 62, the company is eyeing the 10/14 UFC 64 PPV for the vacant Lightweight Championship match between Florian and Sean Sherk.

Florian cited a need to further train in withdrawing from the UFC 62 show, but he apparently will be ready in October.

According to the same report from the Wrestling-Observer Newsletter, Tim Sylvia will defend his Heavyweight Championship against Jeff Monson at the same show. Monson is training with Mark Coleman and Wes Sims for the matchup.

The original plan was to feature Rich Franklin's next Middleweight title defense at the October show, but it is unclear if that fight will still take place.

It is known, however, that UFC is hoping to load up the PPV to steal thunder from PRIDE, which runs in Las Vegas on 10/21, so there likely will be another marquee fight.

Spyder says, I dont know how accurate this Wrestling Observe is, but it seems interesting. Because Franklin said, he is ready to fight in Oct. @ 64. Who knows...

Don't count Monson out, i think he's got a damn good chance, unlike AA i think Monson will go for a take down.

and ya Sherk will dominate.

Sherk is just to strong. Right now he walks around at 175 and i think Kenflo walks around about 165 or 160ish. There's only a few submissions that can save kenflo in that type of strength difference.

I think Tim will take Monson lightly and get taken down. That will be funny to see if you think about it. Then AA should come back and KO Monson to get his belt back. I think Monson has a better chance at taking down Sylvia than he does AA. AA only went for the take down once on TS, and it was a half ass attempt. JM already said thats his game plan, taking TS down.

Sylvia vs Monson is easy standing Tim Sylvia takes it on the ground Monson takes it the problem is with the huge size differance Monson will have trouble taking Tim down im predicting KO by Sylvia.

Florian vs Sherk is a much more intersting matchup Tiger was right youre not giving Florian enough credit hes a very good fighter but im not a fan so i want him to get pounded but there both too evenly matched for that to happen.

Tim Sylvia vs. Jeff Monson, which was originally discussed for UFC 64 in October, will now likely take place in November on the Liddell vs. Silva card.

The Wrestling-Observer Newsletter reports that Sylvia requested the match be postponed so he could take a break before returning to heavy training.

Rich Franklin vs. Anderson Silva appears on for the October show, as does Kenny Florian vs. Sean Sherk.
